Weekend but not weekend Results to 7th June 2026

Losing myself in which week I post about which weeks results. Don't enter your mid 30s kids, it's not a good place.

1s. A huge league win, propelled to 226 thanks to Oli & Olly. Hairs belting 92 and jug avoiding, avoidance/evasion, i can never remember. I'm not a tax accountant. Runs on the board in the EPL. Oli had a smashing day out, with a 5fer to boot. No need to buy 2 jugs. Donny in a rich vein of form with a 3fer as well. Captain Gaz could watch on, beer in hand, (with a slightly lighter wallet after Musselburgh races), with pride.
There was a frosty t20, I think beanie hats were worn vs Grange which the 1s lost. Donny unbeaten on 84. AT again showed his promise, this time with the ball.

Women. Defeat to Stew Mel. Not a day to be a batter. I wonder how much Emily enjoyed that train ride back from Leeds after her uni ball. Great effort from Kirsty with the ball with 4/32

2s. Is Oli Rob back? Did he ever leave us? 4fer alongside ATs 3 limited Accies to 221, but catches win matches... Lots of starts, interesting scorebook math, but AT was the star. Coming of age knock almost got the 2s over the line.
Braw Skelp. Oli Rob again star with the ball. Riz & Rory helped slow a fast start down. Batters tried to have a whack. Lots of guys caught at mid off, Groundhog Day style. DK with 36 kept the score with the rate. Oli Rob (all rounder??) & Vikash, almost snuck the 2s cheeky victory. Almost.

3s. Contractually obliged to not play past 6pm. Vikash & Hamish 3fers with the new ball did the damage. With 85 to chase, Vishal clearly wanted to see if victory could be wrapped up before 5pm. 46 off 18 balls! 3s 7 from 7!!

4s. 4s doing 3s things. Strong bowling effort limited Accies. Dawlatzai with a superb 5/24, meant that Rohan could smack a few about and 4s Run Machine Robinson could notch up another 50+. 4s now 3rd.

Sunday team won v Heriots. JT with 82*, Matt Lancs in the runs. Kyle & Jamie 3fers each led to a big win.

WANDIES. Wandies beat the 5s. Fewer ringers in the 5s lead to higher chances of Wandies victory. Louis & JT retiring but big Wandies runs from Lochy & Jason = High 10s all around.

Frogbox Highlight of the Week

We call this piece of art "cricket"

It's a stupid sport, that doesn't make sense, like some kind of abstract construct.

2s skipper DK skies it, gets dropped, tries to run himself out and then pummels the next ball for 6. Silly sport. Really silly sport.

Weekend Teams 6th-7th June

Finally caught up. I can now go back to doing normal things like watching highlights of Warwickshire v Nottinghamshire on Youtube. Normal things.

1s - they play host to Falkland. After last weeks "Series of Unfortunate Events where guys are repeatedly caught at long-on" the 1s will look to bounce back and get another win on the board. Gaz is at Chris Bowness' stag-do, probably making sure Rob Loomes doesn't end up in either prison or hospital. Cal & Ben are back in the XI.

Womens - they head over to Stew Mel on Sunday. After a week's gap, the Women will be looking for another win to push back into the top 2. Run machines Lucy & Charlotte are away so who will step up in their place. Emily Tucker is taking an early morning train, after an Uni Ball to play on Sunday. Sonian Spirit.

2s - are visiting Accies. It is on astro. Who will have only brought spikes with them?! Boothers makes his 2s league debut and Chat Master Abbey is back in the team. Ben Jones is also driving back from Yorkshire as we speak. The 2s have already exceeded their total 2025 wins, can they make it 6 from 7.

3s - they're at home to St Boswell's. 7 from 7?! Is it on? Jaideep will be pushing the lads to keep up the 100% record and increase the gap to 2nd place. Pranjan is promoted from the 4s after last weeks 5fer. Vikash, Pranjan, Magic, Hamish & Aryaman is a handy bowling attack.

4s - the skipper has picked himself this week! The Engine room of Duncan, Toby & Oliver will be ready to go after a in-form Dave & Rohan are up top. Could it be runs galore on the Myreside arti? Not bowler friendly. 3rd plays 4th, can the 4s head into the top 2?

Sunday 5s - Matt Lancs captains the Sunday side vs Heriots. The usual blend of youth, experience & Sir Alex Ferguson anecdotes. Jamie Tucker being the oldest 16 (ish) year old known to man, could easily fit in with the 'experience' half of this 11. Big fan of Jamie, he kindly complimented my new sunglasses a couple of weekends ago.

Go well everyone!

Weekend Milestones 30th May

2 Michelle's last weekend! And many 50s. You're keeping me too busy.

Vikash - 5fer-nothing. Quite silly. Must be top wicket taker in Div 5 at this rate? Jaideep's key bowler in the 3s title push. Magic & Vikash took 8fer 8runs between them!

Pranjan - a slightly more conventional 5fer figures. 5 for 28 off 8. Alongside Ujjwall's 4for15, Pranjan helped the 4s onto a massive 157 run victory. Pranjan will be one of the 4s vital performers in their push for promotion to Div 7.

Oli Hairs - hit bombs in a T20 - The Pope is Catholic, Bears crap in the woods etc. Less expected was wicket keeping without pads. 0 byes though. Puts me to shame.

Mike Carson - Mike scores runs, makes it look very easy, we wall watch on in admiration. Mike Carson runs usually mean a good afternoon out for all. Unfortunately the lads couldn't capitalise on the good start & get it over the line.

Dave Evans - one of 3 50s in the 4s last weekend. Nice red inker for Dave in a sizeable partnership with Toby. Picture might not do him justice, as it looks like he has his eyes shut.

Veer Singh - runs again. The 3s' Olly Pillinger. Veer currently has 257 runs at an average of 86.24 in Div 5. I'd take that. Keep it up! Maybe we'll get a non-black trainers pic one day.

Ben Jones - comfort runs. Warm & fuzzy runs. Serotonin runs. Ben did Ben things and set up the 2s for a successful chase. Potentially Livi mankadding the nicest man in cricket contributed more to the run chase victory by lighting a fire in everyone at Myreside. But Ben's runs were vital, as ever.

Toby Tucker - love to see it. I only keep doing this stuff so I can post about a Tucker scoring runs or taking wickets. Another man instrumental in the 4s finishing their game before the 6 O'clock news. Red inker too.

Lochlan Morris - WANDIES REPRESENT. 50 and out. But it's still 50. Opening the batting he set the 4s up for a big score & gave Dave and Toby the freedom to do their thing

Well done everyone!

Weekend Results 30th May!

Sorrryyy, if it's not cricket, or work, or commuting, or now Antenatal classes twice a week. (Aunty Natal is a very busy woman by the way). A flurry of morning social media is incoming.

1s - how did we not win that? Because it's the Watsonians way - if it's not an impressive array of injuries, it's batting collapses. Donny carried on his good form helping reduce Carlton to 84-6. Some classic tail wagging - see Jamieson and Robinson in the test match, got Carlton past 200.
In the chase, Oli got the 1s past 50 & then Carson got in the runs. At 150-2, 'we can't lost that from here' vibes. Newsflash, oops, kinda did. Unfortunately, the chase fell away and the 1s were 15 short.
1s also had a Masterton game vs Heriots. Oli whacked some runs, wicket kept without pads. Magic didn't get the chance to bowl at Mark Watt. Sad.

2s - Somewhat eventful. Livi batted 1st on a road & thanks to tight bowling though Livi were well set they came up with a below par score. A stumping off DK's leg & the square leg ump giving a caught behind out. Eventful.
The run chase was tailor made for Ben Jones, Loomes & AT could up the ante around him, until Ben was mankadded on 59. Let's say this injected some fire into the 2s & supporters. Alex & DK were determined to get the job done. The skipper got the 2s over the line with 34 off 23, to scenes of much celebrating & that arms out airplane thing DK does. Needs to be worked on.

The 3s don't play past 6pm. Someone said Veer has scored more runs than the oppo for 3 weeks in a row! 60 from 61 for him this week. Kev with a quick 49 and Jai a very quick 44 got the 3s past 250. Vikash's figures were 7-3-6-5 which is frankly silly. But then you look at Magic's figures of 4-3-2-3 & that's pretty silly too. 8fer8 between them! 3s win again.

The 4s did things the 3s do! 50s for Lochlan Morris (WANDIES), Toby Tucker, what a man & Dave Evans sent the 4s past 200. For Vikash & Magic, see Pranjan & Ujjwall - 9 wickets between them & the 4s win again & up to 3rd.

Sunday 5s, T.Lancs, Abby & Ewan in the runs pushed the 5s past 150. A close fought game but thanks to 2fers from Charlie, Abby & Ethan, the 5s snuck home by 7 runs.

Weekend Teams 30-31st May

Well, any drizzle can bu**er right off.

The 1s head to Carlton. Optimism is high at Watsonians, which is always a worrying feeling :D . Olly P is back taking the gloves. SALAAR IS BACK! Who doesn't like Salaar, nobody. You can only enjoy having Salaar in your 11. JT heads into the 1s as Cal has got himself injured.

The 2s host Livingston, as they look for another win to tighten the grip on 2nd in the table. Alex and Loomo come into the team and Riz returns. Riz & Evan guaranteed to bowl in sunglasses whatever the weather.

Jaideep captains the only unbeaten side in Div 5 also having the luxury of Kev Singh in your side. Everyone in the 3s has contributed to a win so far. So confidence is high as they aim for another 20 points.

The 4s are also moving up the table. Can Rohan repeat his heroics from last week? Duncan Robinson and Toby Tucker in the same XI, oooooft, bit spicy that. Laurie Cox plays his first game of 2026, so I wonder what anecdotes will be told at Myreside after the game.

The Sunday 5s play against Accies. Matt Lancashire captaining Ewan Robertson. Hello hello hello. Get the popcorn out. Half the side are
teenagers, half the side are at an age where they complain about teenagers. Still giving the side an average age of about 30. Abby Blackstock is also in the XI which is great to see too.

Go well everyone!

RECORDS ARE A BROKEN!

I am posting this before someone dives into the archives and finds a 350 run partnership from 1903 vs Scottish Gas CC or some random game like that.

HUGE congratulations to Charlotte Nevard and Lucy Pillinger for their 321 run partnership vs Grampian Thistles on Sunday.
Charlotte finished with 157 not out and Lucy 130 not out.

Fantastic work!

24th May Milestones. Part 2.

Donny. Oh Donny. Set hearts racing on Saturday as he ripped through the Stew Mel XI with a spell of 7-1-17-6. And when I saw Graham had a video of him dismissing one of the key Stew Mel batters 1st ball. It just perfectly synced with the Titanic music. Absolute gold.

Lucy Rynn - a 5 wicket haul for Lucy on Sunday vs Grampian Thistles. Though the Women got a very big score, it was a bit of a runfest. So Lucy's wickets were key in ensuring victory.

Ethan Haire - is he a self styled all-rounder now? A brilliant 28 ball 50 for the 3s vs Leith helped put the game comfortably in the 3s favour. Ethan will be one of Jaideep's key performers as the 3s push for promotion.

Charlotte Nevard - preparation runs for Charlotte before massive innings on Sunday. A not out 50 vs the MCC. Do you get a stripey blazer if you do that?

Oli Hairs - something feels a little odd because Oli scored slower than a run a ball. Still, a 50 vs RHC in the Quarter Final of the Scottish Cup. He and Olly P took the 1s to the brink of victory/

Well done everyone.
That was a lot of design work. The price of good performances.

Week Milestones 24th May. Part 1.

The Segment to be known as "how many runs did the Pillinger's score this week"

Charlotte Nevard - is there much more to say than 157 not out from 115 balls?! Almost 100 runs not in boundaries. That's a lot of running. Most of us wouldn't be able to wake up on Monday.

Lucy Pillinger - outscoring her brother for dinner table bragging rights. She scored 130 not out from 130 in the Women's Premier League fixture vs Grampian Thistles, alongside Charlotte. They had a club-record 321 run partnership.

Olly Pillinger - Olly now has a permanent feature in the canva design folder. All I need is to fill in how many runs it is each week. 87 vs his former side and instrumental in setting up a huge victory for the 1s.

Rohan Chowdhary - Single handily chasing down the 4s target on Saturday in under 17 overs. 80 from 43 balls! Great work.

Olly Pillinger - scoring more runs? Surprising. His 70 from 73 helped the 1s overcome RHC in the Cup Quarter Final.

Farhan Khan - 62 runs, including 5 6s. When Farhan connected the ball went miles. A bit of a luxury to have coming in at 4. Put on 102 with Ben Jones for the 3rd wicket as well.

Donovan du Randt - A HUGE DAY OUT for Donny on Saturday. Starting off with 60 from 53 balls, sending the ones well past 250 vs Stew Mel. His day got even better from here....

Kyle Waddell - His 54* from 49 balls was key in the Sunday 5ths setting a large enough score vs Livingston. Involve in 2 50run+ partnerships.

Sukhrajveer Singh - he loves the photo of him in black trainers and white pads so much, I just have to keep using it. He scored 54 from 68 balls. Alongside 50s from Ethan and E.Xtras, the 3s got close to 250 in their 40 overs.

Well done everyone.
