Progress report for Jinu. 4 year old Irish cob, future teaching horse.

He arrived around 8 weeks ago from Ireland.
After quarantine and strangles tests, he's been living with the herd for 3 weeks, and we've been working with him for the last 2.

He was already backed, hacking, cantering, introduced to jumping.
But we are being very thorough.

So, lots of groundwork, improving posture, and mounting and dismounting, learning how to park and do nothing, riding in walk.

He naturally leans forward, with his chest in front of his feet. So we are teaching him to stand with a leg on each corner, and move without losing this balance, so the legs can be strong and vertical columns of support for his big cobby body.

Improving his vertical balance (so he doesn't 'tilt' sideways), and his horizontal balance (not leaning too much over those front feet).

Exciting journey. Xx

The school holidays are almost here!

We have a few activities, keeping groups small, so be quick if you want a space!

The working equitation obstacles will be set up, to use on Sunday 24th and monday 25th May. Can be used in your usual lesson slots, or book another! Or come as a group! Or fetch own horse/pony.

3 hour own a pony experience on Thursday 28th. 1pm til 4pm. Including a hack, and a lesson, and pony care. Only 4 kids per session, so be quick!
£60 per rider.

On Friday 29th we have an advanced rider horse care and training session. 10am til 1pm. With a maximum of 3 participants! £60 per person.

We have the scope for another 3 hour session on Friday afternoon too, if required.

Be quick, not many spaces, and they fill up quick!

And more dates to come. If you have a particular date you want a training session, or hire the arena with working equitation obstacles set up, let me know. Arena hire is £30 per hour for one horse, (+ £5 for each additional horse) add £5 if you'd like the working equitation obstacles set up.

We have competition grade obstacles, and as a qualified British Working Equitation coach, I'll be coaching the sessions.
I'm also a Qualified BHSI, and British Dressage BDCC3 qualified coach, so I'll be bringing a wealth of experience and training to these sessions.

Lead reins and long rein/groundwork participation is also welcome.

If you haven't tried working equitation before, or your horse can be nervous with new things, this is also the perfect outing for you.

Access and parking here are easy, for lorries and trailers, and it's a lovely quiet and peaceful yard to come to.

On a lovely surface, oversized arena with mirrors, advanced Dressage coach with a passion for grass roots horses and riders.
Guaranteed to have a fun time and leave bursting with confidence.

£50 per rider for 45 mins one to one.
£30 per rider if booking as a group.
No spectators other than the people you bring with you, so no pressure. X

Clients who ride SRS horses, just ask if you want to train with the obstacles, or book an extra session. X

I just wanted to say, my friends, that you are amazing. You all are.

You are unique, just like I am.

Just like Porridge is. He's the only long haired lipizzaner in the entire universe!

You, my friends, are the only you in the entire universe!!!!! Isn't that amazing!!

You can achieve anything. I believe in you. Just like Sam believes in me and my Lipizzaner friends.

Keep on believing. Keep on planning. Keep on working hard and NEVER give up.

Did you know you can bring your own horse for a lesson with Sam, BHSI BDCC3.
Here riding her own Porridge, the Long Haired Lipizzaner .
I am a whizz with thinking outside the box, improving biomechanics with classical principles, to improve strength, suppleness, for a longer and happier functional life.
It's all logical, and fun. Ridden and in hand training.
The only thing that's rocket science is rocket science 😉

Young Simon. Our 5 year old Irish cob, future teaching horse.
Progress report.

Using shoulder in and lateral work in the walk, to help him find balance and stability. He's feeling more coordinated, and doesn't feel drunk any more when asked for a bit of sideways!

Trot is becoming stronger, is becoming more able to keep symmetry.

We'll dip into a bit of canter next week, and trot poles.

As always, he didn't put a foot wrong, and tried his best for me.

Had a first sit on Jinu today too. He's another super sweet Irish boy. Xx
