🏃‍♂️🔥 DVTR RACE UPDATE! 🔥🏃‍♀️

It’s been another busy few weeks for the Derwent Valley Trail Runners, with our members racking up races, miles, elevation and even a few international adventures! 🌍⛰️

📅 26th July – Ingram Hillforts Trail Race
A big well done to Paul, who took on the tough Ingram Hillforts Trail Race, tackling a whopping 1,284ft of elevation along the way! ⛰️💪

📅 26th July – Alnwick Harriers Coastal Half Marathon
Wayse took on the Coastal Half Marathon, battling some seriously tough terrain including beach, grass and rocks 🌊🏃‍♂️💥. Definitely not your standard road half!

📅 2nd August – Isaac’s Tea Trail ☕️🏃‍♀️
A fantastic 39-mile challenge with FIVE DVTR runners representing the club! 💪🔥

🌏🇦🇺 DVTR goes international!

A huge shout-out to Nez, who took on the Border Bolt 31K in Australia! 🇦🇺🏃‍♂️

Nez and his partner Emma (also a DVTR member!) took a one-way ticket out to Asia and Australia 🌏✈️ and Nez returned to racing for the first time since January.

The race took place along the Queensland / New South Wales border, and Nez marked his comeback with an impressive 🥉 3rd place in the 48–54 category!

And there’s more…

🇦🇺🏆 Simon Byrne also raced the Border Bolt 31K and took 🥇 1st place in the 48–54 category!

Simon currently lives in Australia but is an ex-DVTR club member from his time living in England. Brilliant to see you still smashing it, Simon! 👏🔥

Well done to everyone who has been out representing DVTR over the last few weeks. Whether it’s 5K, a half marathon, 39 miles or a race on the other side of the world — keep getting out there and putting in the miles! 💚🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

🏃‍♂️💙 The past couple of weeks at Team DVTR have been nothing short of jam-packed with events! Here’s a look back at what we’ve been up to. The photos are in event order, with a few random snaps thrown in at the end! 📸

⛰️ Tuesday 7th July
Saltwell Harriers Fell Race
We had 7 of our club members take part in this fantastic, but very tough and technical, fell race. A brilliant effort from everyone who tackled the challenging course! 👏

💖 Saturday 11th July
Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K
Paul and his daughter took part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K. What a fantastic cause! Judging by the smiles on their faces, the mud certainly didn’t stop them from enjoying the day! 😄🧡

☀️ Saturday 11th July
Ambleside Lakeland Trail 14K
Katie took on the Lakeland Trail 14K in Ambleside, finishing as 6th female. An outstanding performance, especially on such a scorching hot day! 🔥🏅

🥾 Sunday 12th July
Eight Stations 50K Ultra
Jordan completed the Eight Stations 50K Ultra. Just a little run out for Jordan! 😂 A fantastic effort across the Yorkshire Moors. 👏🏃

🏆 Thursday 16th July
Derwent Valley Running Club Relays – Andrew Callcott Memorial Race
This was the first time our neighbours from the other side of the valley hosted this event, and what a brilliant evening it was! We entered 4 teams, all of whom performed superbly. One of our teams, made up of Katie, Jack and Jonathon, managed to take the win! 🥇 A fantastic night and a great set of results for Team DVTR! 💙

Hexham 10K
Harry took on the Hexham 10K and came away with a new PB! A fantastic individual performance—well done! 👏🎉

Monthly Sunday Social Run
Our monthly Sunday social was led by Jim around the beautiful Seaton Sluice area. A huge thank you to Jim for hosting another great social run! 👏😊

🏃 Tuesday 21st July
Ashington Hirst “Fell Em Doon” 5 Miler
We had 5 of our members take part in this fantastic event. We have a great relationship with Ashington, and it was a pleasure to see our runners competing on such a brilliant course. 💙🤝

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ It’s been another busy couple of weeks for our members! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our runners have been flying the Derwent Valley Trail Runners flag far and wide, taking on some fantastic events. Here’s what they’ve been up to… 👇

🏆 Harry headed to the Durham Dales Challenge 14 Miler and came away with the WIN! 💪 Just making it to the start line of this tough event is an achievement in itself, so bringing home the victory is the icing on the cake. Massive congratulations, Harry – onto the next one! 👏

🏃 Tom took on the Northumbrian 28K. There doesn’t seem to be a month that goes by without Tom representing DVTR somewhere! Another brilliant effort in the bag. 👏

🌊 James tackled the Trail Outlaws Durham Coastal Half Marathon. As always, the Trail Outlaws put on a fantastic event, and James thoroughly enjoyed his day out on the trails. Great running! 🙌

⛰️ Kate & Jim took on the Dales Runner 30. We’ve said it before, but these two never seem to stop smiling out on the trails! 😄 They certainly don’t shy away from a tough challenge, and this race was no exception. Brilliant effort from both of you! 👏

🔥 Wayse made his first appearance in the famous red and black colours of DVTR as he battled the Cheviot Chase. A brutally tough but incredibly beautiful course, and we think it’s safe to say the red and black suits you! Welcome to racing as part of the team! ❤️🖤

🚴 Victoria swapped running shoes for two wheels and took on the spectacular Maratona dles Dolomites. While we’re a trail running club at heart, we love seeing our members challenge themselves in other disciplines too—especially at events as iconic as this. Huge congratulations, Victoria! 👏🚵

We’ve got members racing at three different club events over the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to share another round-up of their adventures.

🏃‍♂️ DVTR RED KITE RACE 🏃‍♀️

We’re delighted to announce the return of the DVTR Red Kite Race! 🎉

A fantastic trail race featuring stunning scenery, great company and, if you’re lucky, a glimpse of the magnificent red kites overhead! 🦅

📅 Save the date and get it in your diaries now!

You’ll notice we’re advertising this as a 10K race… and those of you who have studied the route map closely may spot that it’s slightly over 10K 😉🏃‍♂️

🚨 Entries will be going live on SiEntries in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye on our page for the official launch announcement.

🔥 It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Team DVTR! 🔥

🏔️ First up, on Saturday 6th June, Kate and Paul represented the club at the Coniston Trail Race. As always with these two, there were plenty of smiles and another fantastic performance! 😁👏

🏃‍♂️ Next came the legendary Blaydon Race on Tuesday 9th June. Yes, we do dip our toes into a road race every now and then! 😆 Harry, Phil and Ian took on this absolute North East classic.

⚫⚪ Howay The Lads! ⚪⚫

⛰️ Saturday 13th June was another action-packed day!

🏅 Jim took on the Swaledale Marathon, finishing a very respectable 141st out of 476 runners. A brilliant effort on a challenging course! 👏

🌲 Meanwhile, Nathan, James and Tom tackled the Pooley Bridge Trail Half Marathon. These three certainly love a trail race! As always, the Lake District delivered the goods with some stunning scenery and tough trails. 💚🏔️

🔥 Jon and Martin represented the club at The Wall – a gruelling 70-mile race from Carlisle to Newcastle. That’s a serious distance and one that definitely deserves a huge kudos! 👏💪

🏔️ Last but certainly not least, Paul took on the Hardmoors Wainstones Marathon. Those of you who know Paul will know he loves a tough race, and this one certainly fits the bill! 💪😅

A huge shout-out from all of us for getting the job done and flying the DVTR flag once again! 👏🔥

So, what’s next for Team DVTR? 🤔

One thing we can guarantee is that the miles don’t stop, so neither will we! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨

🏃‍♂️🔥 Team DVTR Update! 🔥🏃‍♀️

Here’s a quick roundup of what we’ve been up to over the last week or so!

🌲 Trail Outlaws Durham 10 Mile
A huge well done to Jon & Stefan, who took on the challenging Trail Outlaws Durham 10-mile race. As always, both put in fantastic performances on a tough, hilly trail route and represented Team DVTR brilliantly! 💪👏

⏱️ DVTR Time Trial Returns
We’re delighted to have reintroduced the DVTR Time Trial! The plan is to hold this event every 3 months for all club members.

The format is simple:
🏃 Run our approximately 5km route
📋 One of our committee members records each runners times.
🎯 Return at the next time trial and aim to beat your previous effort!

A massive well done to everyone who came along, pushed themselves, and gave it their all. It’s great to see members challenging themselves and tracking their progress. 👏🔥

Keep up the hard work everyone – plenty more running, racing, and PB chasing to come! 🏅💙

Another cracking weekend for the club! 🏃‍♂️🔥

Over the weekend, 8 of our members travelled over to the Lake District to take part in the Keswick Mountain Festival ⛰️. They all took on the 25K race and performed fantastically well 👏 The photos show just how much of a brilliant weekend it was for everyone involved!

Elsewhere, Ian & Stefan represented the club at the Derwent Reservoir 10K and both absolutely smashed it 💪🏅

A special shoutout also goes to Tom, who competed in the Sunderland 10K as a guide runner alongside his daughter who is a blind runner ❤️ Truly inspiring to see.

Well done everyone — another weekend making the club proud

Another busy week so far at Derwent Valley Trail Runners 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨 with some of our members taking part in local races across the region! We always try to support local running events wherever we can, and most importantly we have a brilliant time competing together 🙌

First up was the inaugural Chopwell Woods Gambit 🌲🔥 — a race concept we’d never come across before, so it was fantastic to see something new and different brought to life. Huge credit to Twisted Trails for hosting such a great event 👏

A special shoutout goes to our very own Jim for taking 1st place in the V50 category 🥇💪

Last night also saw the return of the well-known Steelworks Relays ⚙️🏃 hosted by Blackhill Bounders. As always, the event was superbly organised and a cracking evening was had by all 👌

We had 3 teams entered, finishing an impressive 6th, 17th & 24th out of 53 teams 👏🔥 Fantastic running all round and even better team spirit throughout the night!

Now onto the weekend as a number of our members head to the beautiful Lake District 🏔️🥾 for another weekend of running adventures. Keep your eyes peeled 👀 for next week’s roundup to see what they get up to!
