We're thinking about starting the weekly runs again, give us a ❤️if you would come along on a Sunday morning and be part of our friendly running community. We need to know if there's enough interest to make it worthwhile.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year, we hope you are well. We are pleased to announce our new name of Gibside Sunday Runners/Walkers. Facebook has allowed our name change, which is a great start to 2021. We look forward to seeing you all again when we are allowed, but in the meantime please stay safe. Loads of Love from us all ###

We've been in touch with Gibside this week about holding the run again at some point in the future, once restrictions allow. Nothing has been agreed but it's something to look forward to progressing next year. We will need to set ourselves up as an independent organisation, so lots to think about.

In the meantime keep running and we hope to see you all next year sometime.

As you know, last week we took the difficult decision to permanently suspend all Great Run Local events.

Following discussions with the event coordinator, they have indicated a desire to continue this local running community under a new name.

To support their plans we will be handing over the administration of this page to the local coordinator – you will notice some changes to this page over the coming days during the transition.

We are truly sorry to bring this popular series to a close, but we know we are leaving you in the hands of dedicated group leaders who are passionate about supporting running and physical activity in their local community.

We wish you all the very best with your running in the days and months ahead, and we hope to see you on a Great Run start line in the years to come.
