A woman who died following a serious incident in Derry on Saturday morning has been named locally as Amy Doherty, aged in her late 20s.

She is understood to have been a mother of two young children.

Emergency services were called to a property in the Summer Meadows Mews area shortly after 10.20am, where she was found with serious injuries. She was taken to the hospital but later died.

A 30-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of murder.

Tributes have begun to appear online, with friends remembering her as a warm and caring person who brought light to those around her.

Police have said enquiries are ongoing and have urged anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference 469 – 21/03/26.
