The Royals traveled to Attleborough Town A for their first game of the season, we knew it was going to be a hard game as they had just come off last season winning the division 3 title but even with several players missing the lads put in a good all-round performance it was only the 5-10 minutes towards the end of the first half that let us down a bit, but with that said there's no complaints let's look forward to our cup gme this saturday and get to winning ways.
A big thank you to all those who came to watch us yesterday. UP

The Royal Standard played their last pre season game on saturday against Brad/Matt going down 3-0
To be honest the score doesn't tell the whole story the lads played well in parts and kept on battling untill the end yes all the goals could have been avoided quite easily but there's more to look forward too than look back at,we have a great squad of players for the upcoming season who are quite capable of doing something this time round if we learn from the pre season game's.UP THE ROYALS

The Royal Standard were at home to Breckland utd from division 1 Saturday unfortunately we went back to our old ways by not leaving enough time for a proper warmup plus not taking it seriously however i am sure that it won't happen for the next game.
The lads did start the game a bit sluggish but started to get into it with some decent wing play unfortunately that's as far as it went before Utd went 1up when our keeper didn't manage to hold onto the ball soon after Utd went 2up with another goal, after the water break there were a few changes to the formation and the lads started playing the football they know they are capable of working together and really hard to make sure Utd didn't runaway with the game, unfortunately just before the end of the 1st half the referee gave Utd a really dubious penalty for handball after a shot from outside the box hit a Utd player on the hand, the penalty was put away to make it 0-3 at half time.
After the break The Standard came out fighting the lads really grafting to get back into the game and holding their own against our division 1 opponents football wise and WWE wise 🫣
Eventually all the hard work paid off when down to 10 men Johnathan Cavalho finished well to get the score back to 1-3
The lads did keep fighting to the end of the game but unfortunately they were not able to pull anymore goals back with the game ending 1-3
We will look on the bright side to this game we lost the 1st half and won the 2nd against a team in a league above us.
Great grafting performance everyone who played today let's look forward to the next game and learn from this one and get back to winning ways

The Royal Standard continued their winning ways against Yaxham Fc on saturday.
The Royals started off on the front foot pushing forward looking for a chance to take the lead but Yaxham held their ground even though the Royals came close to scoring on several occasions it wasn't until Lucas Brown cut in from the right hand side to smash the ball into the net to put the Royals 1-0 then Lee Anderson climbed above everyone to header in his 1st goal for the club and put the Royals 2-0 up at half time.
In the second half yaxham were the team on the front foot scoring from a close ranged header 2-1, it woke the lads up and they started playing some decent flowing football gradually getting a foot hold in the game, again for the second time Lucas Brown cut in from the left and from outside the box curled the ball into the top far left hand corner 3-1
The lads were cruising but a bit of a slip let Yaxham back in 3-2
The lads were more determined than ever to get further in front pushing forward and eventually going 4-2 up when Kyle Barnett jinked into the box slotting in coolly, continuing to apply pressure to their opponents the Royals went looking for more and from a corner Jamie Parker kindly headed the ball down for Ryan Marshall to score his first goal for the club 5-2 the lads were not finished yet a nice solo run from Kyle Barnett see him brought down in the box for a penalty which he took and scored making it 6-2 with the lads cruising the ref gave a REALLY HARSH penalty for handball which yaxham converted to make the final score 6-3
Good all-round team performance everyone worked hard and battled well but we do need to keep the concentration going for the whole game and learn to keep hold of the ball for longer periods of time and not giving it away needlessly, well done lads. UP THE ROYALS.

UP THE ROYALS
The Royal Standard won their first ever game on Saturday with a 2-1 win against Bradneham & Mattishall, the royals started well playing some attacking football and putting their appointments defence under constant pressure coming close on occasions but not really hitting the target going in at half time 0-0. After a half time team talk the lads were determined to put things right and did so within 15 minutes, a ball was played into James Maliska who was brought down from behind in the 18 yard box for a penalty, with our normal penalty taker Taylor Braule off the pitch at the time Johnathan Carvalho stepped up to take it, the keeper managed to get a hand to it but Carvalho got to the rebound to finish it off and put the Royals 1-0
up, continuing to push for more goals the lads came close on several occasions but some bad finishing let us down a bit but then a lovely through ball from Olly Black put Johnathan Carvalho through to finish superbly for 2-0
The Royals sort of dropped off after the second goal and allowed their opponents back into the game with their opponents scoring a dubious goal which should have been cancelled for either offside a free kick or handball but it was given and it made it 2-1 after that nothing much really happened so and the match ended 2-1 to the Royal Standard. It was a good win but we know that we are capable of playing much better than what we did but we have something to build on for our next game, it was great to see Keaton Ellis back playing as well.

UP THE ROYALS

The Royals took on Necton in their first preseason friendly on saturday.
We started off really well with some nice flowing football and deservedly took the lead with James Brandowski sliding in to put us 1up the lads continued to press Necton coming close on several occasions eventually a ball in from the right see a Necton player put into his own net putting the Royals 2up, after that we seemed to let things slide forgetting how we were playing to put ourselves in a dominant position unfortunately there was a bit of a misunderstanding at the back that allowed Necton to get back in the game 2-1 at half time. After the break the Royals did start off ok but our opponents were given a life line when the referee gave them a penalty for a really SOFT handball that made it 2-2
Once the lads settled down they started to play a little better but not having much luck especially when after beating 2 defenders and taking the ball around the keeper our striker was taken out from behind but the referee was the only person on the pitch who didn't think it was a penalty (well not until after the game) the score stayed at 2-2
Good performance by the team, just need to make sure we learn from our mistakes and keep our shape throughout the game.
