Just a few bits for tomorrow.
We peaked early with volunteers this week, we are safe to go ahead but there may be a queue to be scanned…

Thanks you so much to everyone who has volunteered already, almost all of our essential roles are covered, but if you’re late to the party we could use a couple more barcode scanners.
Pacers we’ve got 20,22,25,28,30,32 covered
35,38,40,42 and 45 are available

Remember Derby Homes car park is closed again this week. (5th September 2026).

Please do not park in the car park in Alvaston Park itself - this is limited and is reserved for use by other groups with a prior agreement to use the park.
Car parking is available at Pride Park, Park and ride and you should allow 10 minutes to walk to the start. Access is from Derwent Parade and the car park is behind the football Stadium DE24 8BW (cost £3 for the day). This is ideal if you want to stay longer in the park. Park in the section of the car park closest to the river. To get to the start, leave on foot via the exit near the river, turn right and follow the path (650m) along the riverside until you enter the corner of Alvaston Park. The starting point is near the café building, located beyond the lake at the centre of the park.

The Derby Homes car park at Alvaston parkrun is closed for the next 3 weeks while it is being resurfaced. The parkrun will go ahead normally but subject to the usual requirement for there being enough marshals to run it safely.

Alvaston parkrun urgently needs Hi-viz Hero volunteers for this Saturday's parkrun to go ahead safely. If you can help please contact us on [email protected] as the rota is looking very thin at the moment.

18:00 update - thanks to all our volunteers this week, we have a full roster in the park. Still no fast runner to reopen the carpark, so it's looking like 09:40 for carpark reopening tomorrow.

15.30 update - still only 1 timekeeper and no-one to reopen the car park. We can relieve you at 10am if you're a fast runner and can volunteer to reopen the car park after you've run...

Morning folks, we're mostly there, just 1 more marshal, someone to reopen the carpark, and 2 timekeepers! Yep - at the moment we have no-one to time keep. Do you have a bored teenager who is glued to their phone? We can put them to use! Not feeling it this week? Can tap your phone and count to 1? We need you! We're actually looking OK for a Wednesday in the Summer Holidays - thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far. We still need 3 marshals, 2 timekeepers, someone to hand out finish tokens, two barcode scanners as well as someone to reopen the carpark (could be a fast runner). Hmm this is a new one, the roster is looking fairly healthy for the 15th August however we have no one to give out tokens, and no bar code scanners yet! I think technically we would be able to go ahead but it would be difficult to give anyone a time!

Anyone fancy trying something new? We can offer a bit of shade so you can wear pink rather than getting a pink face…
