Broadstreet Rugby Club Broadstreet Rugby Football Club at The Ivor Preece Fields Broadstreet's clubhouse has full wheelchair access on the ground floor and disabled facilities.

We are very proud of our rugby club facilities here at Broadstreet Rugby Club Coventry, and can boast that our complex is set in over 40 acres of professionally landscaped grounds and woodland, our complex is situated in one of the most picturesque locations in the region. These rugby club facilities allows us to provide the kind of playing environments unequalled by others. Players train twice a

week on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 6:30 PM on our two floodlit pitches. Daylight games we have a choice of 6 full sized rugby pitches. These excellent rugby facilities have been utilised by Coventry And District Union, Warwickshire RFU, Midlands RFU and the England Rugby for training sessions and full games in early 2008 for England Deaf Rugby Union in their matches against The Welsh Deaf Rugby Union in February and March saw the visit of The Scottish Deaf Rugby Union XV.

The Lions head to West Bridgford for a Pre-season warm up against a West Bridgford XV with the opportunity to put more miles in the legs during the longest Pre-season ever.

First hit out for the Street

We host Banbury this week at the IPF in our first chance to see what the boys have been working on over the summer

A few new faces against an established level 5 club will be a good opportunity to enjoy some rugby and raise a glass to the rain which has allowed us to play and ended the hottest summer on record that had cancelled all our previous Pre-season fixtures.

Full Back Option

Will Morgan returns for his 2nd season with the club after a successful first hit out. His kicking was invaluable to the team and in close games was often the difference between winning and losing, our opening game against OC's last year as a case in point. Unfortunately starting the year with an ankle injury we'll be missing his safe presence at the back and we look forward to him returning full guns blazing mid season as an added boost to our campaign.

Ambrose Deery is another M&J graduate who made an impact in his first year of adult rugby last season. Another kicking metronome he shared the duties with Tristan in the Lions last year and was a real asset to their promotion winning squad. His ball playing skills and ability to marshall the back line meant that he played full back, centre and fly half at various points and his understanding of the game wasn't him a 1st XV debut in the Warwickshire Cup final in a well deserved nod to his progress

Zinger Winger Selection

Alton McVey back for another season in the Red, Green and White. A mainstay every Saturday for the club for the last 6 seasons, he covers Centre and Wing and has made big contributions in the 1st and Lions squad during that period. A strong ball carrier with real pace, he also has a knack for knowing where the camera is as he crosses the line 😉. His experience within our club will be invaluable this year as we look to build on the success of last year and push the 1sts and Lions to the top of their respective leagues.

Theo H-H got a shout out in our first re-signings post and is a great example of what player development and great coaching can produce. A player always looking to learn and work hard, he will be a shoe-in for the 1sts this year if he keeps progressing as quick as he has.

Ollie F also mentioned in a previous re-signing post was pulling up trees last year with 34 tries in 24 matches. He has been recognised by Coventry RFC and is representing their 1st XV against RFC this weekend, we look forward to helping him progress and he recognises that Street is the best place to help him push on.

Jake Gough is fast on his way to being a club legend. A quiet character off the pitch he lets his work in the Lions do all the talking and is a lynchpin for that team. He was rewarded last season with a 1st XV debut in the county cup final and he showed he has bags of heart and passion for the club. He'll be with us for the next 10 years, having a sneaky Carling after training on a Thursday and smashing lads who run down his channel on the Saturday.

The boys in the middle of the park are back and raring to go

Last year's Lions player of the season Louis Pointon is back for his 17th season in the Street shirt after joining at 7 years old, a fine display of durability considering his smash and grab physicality and disregard for anyone's personal safety in the collisions. A hard running-big tackling outside centre he was regularly deployed in the back row if there was an injury and we had already used our 3 subs. His improving performances year on year has shown the levels of player development that can happen with good coaching and opportunities, now at 24 we are expecting the very best from him.

Ryan O'Neill is another physically dominant player with the mentality of a tongan in the tackle. His attacking hard lines off set piece are a real handful to defend and his experience and communication in defence is a real asset in our young squad. Now in his 30's he's never come to Pre-season looking as fit and lean as he does now and we can expect him coming full noise into the season expecting to make an impact on Level 5 rugby.

Rob Knox comes in this season as player coach as his wealth of experience and game understanding was vital in last year's campaign. As a coach he is such an asset to the team but as a player he still has all the attributes which made him one of Coventry's highest ever try scorers and a top level champ player. He got better as the games got harder last season and we are hoping he can deliver the same this season

Tristan Clarke is another Street M&J who has had a real impact on the Lions squad in recent years. His metronomic boot has meant that any pens given to us in the opposition half are a realistic opportunity to come away with points. Neil Jenkins had a 10 year international career with the understanding that he would never miss a shot at goal and Tristan offers the same for us. A tidy distributor and a great reader of the game he has a burst of speed which has seen him home for a couple of length of the pitch tries too. Still only having 2 years of adult rugby under his belt he is one to keep an eye on, which you can do tc_rugbykicking

10/10 Again

Fly Halves have been few and far between in recent seasons at Street but next season with these re-signings we should be in safe hands

Jordan Gott has bags of experience at fly half having represented Cornish Pirates, Plymouth Albion and the Navy in some huge games. His ability shone through last season as he guided the club through the season and our playoff wins. An absolutely transformational signing for the club last season, he has since left the Navy and settled in the area so could be a fixture in our squad for the foreseeable.

Ethan Hancock is another Street M&J who has broken in to the 1st XV in recent years but unfortunately had his campaign ended in the 3rd game of last season away at Northampton Old Scouts with a nasty leg break. After that start-stop season we are hoping we can see more of him fulfilling his great potential this season and with Jordan Gott ahead of him then he has plenty of knowledge to pull from.
