The RLSS UK National Lifesaving Academy awards are a suite of progressive awards that teach personal survival, first aid, CPR, rescue, and fitness skills to anyone aged 12 years and over. 🏊‍♂️

The awards are structured to teach foundational skills and then progressively build up the candidate’s skills. On achieving the Bronze
Medallion level of award, the candidate receives Recognition of Prior Learning hours towards the RLSS UK vocational lifeguard qualifications. 🛟

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification 🛟

Were thrilled to announce we're running a course from Sunday 19th - Thursday 23rd July at Pendle Leisure Centre

Every candidate attending a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) course must: 🔸️16-years-old or above at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:
🔸️Jump/dive into deep water
🔸️Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
🔸️Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back ️in deep water
🔸️Tread water for a minimum of 30 seconds
🔸️Surface dive to the floor of the pool
🔸️Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

We're calling on all schools in Pendle to support us in raising awarenss of the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Drowning Prevention Week 2026 campaign.

For over a decade, Drowning Prevention Week has helped raise awareness of water safety across the UK and Ireland, and in 2026 we hope to reach more people in Pendle than ever before by supporting you and your teachers to deliver class room based water safety lessons!

As a lifesaving club we aim to support schools, charities, and emergency services to bring the campaign to life through education, events, and sharing vital safety messages.

Devastated by the recent news that five people in the UK have recently lost their lives in open water 💧💔

It may hot and may be tempted by the open water but cold water shock in deep water kills but please do not go into the water unless it's a specific organised event with appropriate safety measures in place.🚫⚠️
