Feeling stiff? Your spine might just need a little love 🤍

Here are Charlotte’s Top Three Desert Island Exercises to Mobilise Your Spine — simple, effective, and perfect when your body feels tight or sluggish:

✨ Cobra
Opens up the chest, gently extends the spine, and helps counteract all that forward posture (hello, desk life).

✨ Cat / Extended Cat
Encourages full spinal movement — flexion and extension — helping to release tension and improve overall mobility.

✨ Threading the Needle
Targets rotation through the upper back, easing tightness and improving mobility where we often hold the most stiffness.

👉 Aim for 10 reps, or 5 each side where needed. Move slowly, breathe deeply, and let your spine unwind.

Your body will thank you.

Following on from our previous video, here are a few more resistance based exercises you can try at home using weights or resistance bands to focus on building strength, improving stability, and encouraging good movement patterns through the whole body.

Consistent, controlled movement can make a real difference over time. As always, focus on moving well and maintaining good technique before adding more resistance. When using weights or resistance bands, try to keep the wrists long and aligned (avoid bending at the wrists).

Charlotte, our founder, wanted to share her Pilates journey.

For years she lived with back pain caused by an underlying health condition. Since her teens she had tried everything — injections, procedures, physio — but nothing really worked long term.

Eventually her GP suggested trying Pilates. She committed to attending three times a week and within just three months she started noticing real changes.

Fast forward a year and she felt like she had a completely different body. She was stronger, moving better, and the pain that had been part of her life for so long had eased.

That experience changed everything.

It inspired her to train as a Pilates instructor and eventually open Paragon Pilates — creating a space where people feel supported, understood and empowered, especially those dealing with pain or injuries.

Pilates changed her life, and she truly believes it can change yours too.

Adding resistance to movement whether through weights, resistance bands, or reformer springs can help support both muscle strength and bone health. ��As we age, maintaining bone density becomes increasingly important, and resistance-based exercise helps place healthy load through the bones and muscles to support strength and stability.

This is the first of two videos (Part 2 to follow!) sharing some simple exercises you can try at home.

No equipment at home? Even items you have around the house, such as water bottles, can offer a great starting point.
