What an incredible effort from our 14-strong ADTREX 5000 team — walking, running, paddling, swimming and cycling our way to the target! 🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️🥾

But… we’ve still got 5 days left, so we’re not stopping! 💪

The team are going strong 💪

I don't have to… I get to. 💚

5.20am. Saturday.

Definitely not a time I wanted to be awake. Monty was still sleeping and, quite frankly, I really wanted to be too!

But I'd committed to being part of the Adtrex 5000 team, contributing my 500km to our team's 5,000km and £3,000 challenge, where every kilometre counts for mental health, specifically for Young Lives Foundation - YLF, North Kent Mind and South Kent Mind.

So… alarm on.
Swim in the lake.
Then onto the bike.

I didn't want to.

I probably didn't need to that day either.

Then came the switch:

I get to.

Standing lakeside, watching the morning mist hover above the still water, I thought:

How utterly fortunate am I that I get to do this?

Clipping into my pedals, ready for some solo kilometres around the New Forest, I thought it again.

Since finding myself at Camp 1 on Everest during the 2015 earthquake, I wake up every day thinking:

How utterly fortunate am I to get another day?

So every swim stroke, pedal turn, running step and dog walk becomes something I get to do, rather than something I have to do.

And during ADTREX 5000, every kilometre is also for those we're supporting. 💜
