WORLD CHAMPION AT CALNE CC ๐ข๐ก
Women's Masters O50s Cricket World Cup 2026 CHAMPION! ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ
The journey started with an invitation through Senior Wiltshire Cricket to trial for the Women's England Masters squad. I joined Cricfit to get conditioned and put in extra time in the nets. I came through the first round of trials successfully, the next round and then was notified a few weeks later that I was selected to be part of the England's O50s squad for the inaugural Masters World Cup 2026. Hosted in England and Wales, this even is set to be held every two years going forward.
The competition hosted teams from Northern and Southern Hemisphere, an International XI, and Wales - with genuine legends of the game across every age category (40s, 50s, 60s). I found myself in a squad alongside former England captains, Test match winners, Ashes winners, World Cup winners and ICC Hall of Famers. Talk about good company and imposter syndrome! Across 6 matches in 2 weeks (40-over ECB format), I took my first England wicket against Wales, batted in 3 of the matches, banking solid scores and crucial not-outs. Bowling in the final I bowled a tight 5 overs with an economy of 1.2.
It has been an absolute privilege to be part of the unbeaten 7 from 7 England o50s Women's Cricket World Champions team. I have learnt so much from being part of this squad and will be forever grateful for the coaching tips from legends, the incredible camaraderie, encouragement, positive team spirit and not forgetting the endless banter.
I have to say though that this would not have been possible without Calne CC. Coming back to cricket 2 years ago has been a bumpy ride with performance - especially in batting this season. But with the support from Sean, Gareth, Thea, Jon, Jason, the amazing Calne Ladies and my family I got there. Thank you for your positivity and belief - you are never too old to chase your dreams!!!
