🔵🔴🟡 Buxton’s 1st Preseason Game

Buxton’s first preseason game resulted in a closely fought defeat against Amber Valley, with both sides putting in an impressive shift in a competitive encounter.

In a tightly contested opening half, it was Amber Valley who struck first shortly before half time, giving the visitors the lead.

Buxton responded strongly after the break, scoring a try to bring themselves back into the contest. Valley then extended their advantage with a penalty.

Buxton continued to battle and were rewarded when captain J. Stafford powered over with a pick-and-go from the scrum to level the scores at 10–10.

With Buxton pressing hard and looking to take the lead, Amber Valley produced a breakaway try in the closing 10 minutes to move 17–10 ahead.

Buxton continued to push right until the final whistle, but Valley sealed the victory with a third try on the final play of the game.

Message from the New Club Chair

🔵🟡🔴 As we move into the new season, I want to start by dispelling some of the rumours that have been circulating around the club for years… 😂

And what better place to start than with our newest Life Member, Mr Clive Walker! 👏

Today I was camera-ready, determined to finally get photographic evidence that Clive CAN smile! 📸🤣

Thanks to some of our younger members showing me how to use Snapchat, I think I’ve done a pretty good job with this one! 😜

So, here it is… proof that Clive Walker does actually smile! 😁

More rumours to be investigated as the new season unfolds… 👀😂

🔵🟡🔴 WHAT A DAY AT BUXTON RUGBY CLUB! 🏉

Great to see another fantastic turnout of supporters at Buxton Rugby Club today! 👏

We’re always delighted to see new faces coming through the gates — and even better when they leave saying they’ve had a great day and they’ll be back! 🙌

Several new players pulled on the Buxton shirt for the first time today and put in a great performance. 💪🏉

It was a pre-season friendly against Amber Valley, with an even first half before Amber Valley pulled away in the latter stages of the second half to take the win 10–22.

Results are important, but pre-season is about building, developing and getting everyone ready for the season ahead.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the team today. 💙💛❤️

🔵🟡🔴 HISTORY MADE AT BUXTON RUGBY CLUB! 🏉

Tonight’s AGM was a truly historic one for Buxton Rugby Club.

As we head into our centenary year, we have reached a fantastic milestone — two women have been voted into Chair positions at the club! 👏

Congratulations to Liz Taylor, who steps up as Chair of Buxton Rugby Club, and Veronica O’Neil, who will Chair our Mini & Junior Section. 💙💛❤️

A massive thank you to Will Batterbee, who has chaired the club for the past five years. Will has played a huge part in the club’s journey and we’re delighted that he will continue on the committee, supporting Liz as Vice Chair. 👏🏉

Steve Gyte will continue as our Club President and figurehead, providing experience and support as the club moves forward.

We’re also delighted that Martyn Welburn, Kath Davies and Stephen Edge will all continue in their current positions, bringing their experience and commitment into the next chapter of the club. 👏

Tonight marks another important moment in the history of Buxton Rugby Club.

100 years of history. A new chapter. An exciting future. 🏉🔥
