Why rushing through Pilates actually skips the workout šŸ‘‡

If you’re speeding through your reps, you aren’t using muscle -you’re using momentum, and that’s exactly what we don’t want to happen in class!

Joseph Pilates actually called his method ā€œControlology.ā€ It was never about how fast you could move, but how much control you had over your body.

Here is why slowing down changes everything:

    •    It wakes up the deep core: Fast movements use your big, dominant muscles. Slow movements force your deep, hidden stabilizers to do the work.
    •    The ā€œreturnā€ is where the magic is: Controlling the way out of a movement builds incredible strength. Don’t just let the springs pull you back!
    •    It saves your joints: Rushing leads to sloppy form, which usually ends up hurting your lower back.

Pilates isn’t just getting from Position A to Position B quickly. It’s the control you take to get there…

Hello, June!

We are bringing that gorgeous May energy straight into June, ready for another month of classes on the carriage. Although Rossendale's current weather forecast suggests otherwise, this is going to be a gorgeous month in the studio! šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø

Also, can we just talk about these longer days?! There’s nothing quite like walking into an early morning class with the sun rising, or leaving an evening session while it’s still light outside. It just hits different and we are here for it!
