We’re excited to officially welcome Josh into a larger role at CrossFit Vastus!

Many of you will already know Josh from classes, but from June he’ll be taking on a more regular role within the gym, helping coach more sessions and supporting the continued growth of our community.

Josh brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience with him. With a BSc in Sports Science, an MSc in Strength & Conditioning, and over a decade of coaching experience, he’s worked with weightlifters, athletes, and everyday people looking to get stronger, fitter, and healthier.

His background includes coaching with Leeds City Weightlifting Club, British Weightlifting’s regional talent pathway, leading the Leeds University Weightlifting team, managing a commercial gym, and helping people achieve incredible results through personal training and online coaching.

Most importantly, Josh genuinely cares about helping people improve and become the best version of themselves. That makes him a perfect fit for what we’re building here at Vastus.

We’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait for you all to spend more time learning from him!

As an official HYROX Training Club affiliate, we’re bringing the heat with a fast-paced, sweat-fuelled fitness test that’s open to EVERYONE. No HYROX experience needed, just show up ready to work.

Sunday 14th June

You’ll take on:
- 1000m Run
- 50 Burpee Broad Jumps
- 100 Stationary Lunges
- 1000m Row
- 30 Hand-Release Push-Ups
- 100 Wall Balls (4kg women / 6kg men)

We’ll time your workout so you can benchmark your fitness HYROX-style. Whether you’re just curious or prepping for a comp, this is your chance to get involved and see what it’s all about.

What keeps people coming back week after week, year after year?

For Adam, it’s led to an incredible 1000 sessions! Almost with us from day one, he’s helped build Vastus both literally and figuratively, and still makes strict muscle-ups look ridiculously easy.

Amy has reached 250 sessions, bringing positivity, determination and a smile to every class she walks into.

Kyra has smashed through 100 sessions. Known for her seriously strong squats and deadlifts!

Leni has hit 40 sessions through pure consistency. Getting stronger every week and growing in confidence with every session.

Darin has also reached 40 sessions and has become a staple of our morning classes.

Simon has already clocked up 20 sessions in HYROX, bringing great energy and a willingness to work hard every time.

And Mark has reached his first 10 sessions after being gifted an On Ramp session for his birthday. Safe to say that gift has worked out pretty well!

Different goals. Different journeys. Different reasons for starting. But they all have one thing in common: they kept showing up.

Our first .cancer Team Sweat class is in the books!

The teamwork, encouragement, and determination on display today was exactly what Battle Cancer is all about. It was fantastic to see everyone getting stuck in, pushing themselves, and supporting each other through the workout.

We’re also incredibly excited to officially announce that CrossFit Vastus is now a Battle Cancer Affiliate!

What does that mean for you?

The hottest day of the year so far… and our team still showed up to take on MURPH!

A workout that is tough at the best of times felt even more brutal in the heat today. Fans were working overtime, the shade outside became prime real estate, and every round felt that little bit harder. But nobody backed down.

What made this morning so special wasn’t just the effort… it was doing it together. The encouragement, the support, the check-ins between gasps for air, and everyone staying right until the very end to cheer in the last man standing.

That’s what Vastus is all about. Not just getting through hard workouts, but doing it together.

So proud of every single one of you who showed up, dug deep, and gave it everything today. What a way to spend a bank holiday morning!

Rope climbs in today’s weekend pairs WOD.

Some of the guys who’ve been battling to crack the foot hook made HUGE progress today… getting their second pull, third pull, and even making it all the way to the top.

Massive well done to Kaiden, Berni & Gwen for getting higher up that rope than ever before!

Special mention to Kaiden… finally hits his best rope climb ever… comes down buzzing… gets a quick fist bump from Ben… then immediately hears:

What a way to kick off a Hen Party weekend!

This morning we had the pleasure of hosting a special Hen Party WOD for bride-to-be Leanne and her hens. Alongside fellow CrossFitters Nicole and Jessica, the girls threw themselves into a morning of Toes to Bar, Wall Walks, Rope Climbs and plenty of laughs.

For most of the group it was their very first taste of CrossFit, but you would never have known… they gave everything a go and absolutely smashed it!

We loved having you all with us and feel honoured to have been part of such a special weekend.

Leanne, if you approach married life with the same enthusiasm, determination and energy you brought to today’s workout, we’re sure you and your future husband will have an amazing life together!

What a week of firsts it’s been.

Cathy got her first kipping pull-ups after working towards them for such a long time. A proper reminder that persistence and consistency really do pay off.

Pam did Double Unders in a WOD for the very first time… and we all know how frustrating a skill they are to crack!

Andrew tackled Box Jumps in a workout for the first time ever… there’s definitely no turning back now.

Tabitha hit her first ever 24” Box Jumps, which honestly is amazing. When she first joined us, she wouldn’t jump onto anything higher than a drop pad.

And if all that wasn’t enough, we also had quite a few of you take on Thursday’s WOD as RX for the very first time. We only managed to capture Lauren and Neil’s RX euphoria on camera, well done you two… But a massive well done to everyone that managed to battle with those kettlebells and win!

We’re super proud of the effort you all put in every single time you walk through the door… and all the hard work you do to be able to achieve these huge wins.

An epic week of firsts, well done team!
