Bare lie around the green? Try this.
withben64 working on a simple shot that can make these awkward lies much easier.

The setup:

• Stand a little closer to the ball
• Raise the handle so the toe sits down
• Open the clubface
• Aim slightly left
• Cut across the ball
• Try to strike the ball from the toe of the clubface

You’re not looking for a big strike here.

The goal is to simply nip the ball cleanly off the bare lie using the toe of the club.

This takes some of the bounce out of play and can give you much more control when there’s almost no grass underneath the ball.

Give it a try next time you’re practising your short game.

What a brilliant way to finish our family holiday ❤️

More family time 👨‍👩‍👦
And plenty more memories made along the way 📸

This break has been exactly what I needed.

Time away from the normal routine, time with the family and a chance to properly switch off and enjoy everything France has had to offer. ☀️🇫🇷

But I’ll admit… my coaching brain never completely switches off! 😂⛳️

I’ve also had some time to think, plan and work on a few new ideas for Duke Golf. 💭📈

There are some exciting changes coming over the next few months, all focused on giving golfers across Bristol an even better coaching experience. 🏌️‍♂️🎯

Now the batteries are recharged 🔋✅ and I’m genuinely looking forward to getting back to coaching tomorrow.

🚨 Is your golf swing going wrong before you’ve even finished the takeaway?

If your club gets out of position early, you often spend the rest of the swing trying to recover.

That can lead to:

❌ Poor strike
❌ Inconsistent direction
❌ Loss of clubface control
❌ Timing issues later in the swing

One of the first positions I check with golfers is the takeaway.

🏌️ Try this simple checkpoint:

1️⃣ Film your swing from down the line
2️⃣ Pause the video when the shaft is roughly parallel to the ground
3️⃣ Check that your hands, arms and chest are moving together
4️⃣ Make sure you haven’t snatched the club away too quickly
5️⃣ Rehearse the movement slowly before adding speed

The goal isn’t to make your swing look perfect.

It’s to understand where the problem starts.

Setup ➡️ Takeaway ➡️ Top position ➡️ Downswing ➡️ Impact

Fixing the right part of the swing can make everything after it much easier.

Normandy so far 🇫🇷🌊

We’ve spent the first half of our holiday travelling along the Normandy coastline, visiting the D-Day beaches and memorials and helping Dylan understand some of the history behind them. 📚

Seeing these places in person has been incredibly moving and puts so much into perspective. ❤️

One of the best moments so far was surprising Dylan with Mum and Dad. He had no idea that Nanny and Grandad were joining us, and his face when he saw them said it all! 👵👴🥰

The BMW has been a big part of the journey too. It’s handled the long miles brilliantly, and I’m loving the car and its performance along the way. 🚗🇫🇷

History, family time, coastal roads, sunshine and strawberry milkshakes. Exactly the break we needed. ☀️🥤❤️

We still have a few more days left to explore and make even more memories together. Any recommendations for places we should visit before heading home? 📸

This break has also given me time to reset and look ahead. A few exciting changes are coming to Duke Golf, with bigger improvements planned for the services I offer.

🏆 Golfer of the Month: Thomas Sneddon 🏆

Thomas continues to work incredibly hard on his golf. ⛳️

He is putting in the time to improve every aspect of his game, from his technique and practice habits to how he performs on the course. 🏌️‍♂️

He has represented the team brilliantly and produced strong performances in team matches, junior opens and general play. 👏

Today, Thomas also took part in a pitching assessment powered by Full Swing and Clippd. This was a great way to measure his skills against core-level standards and identify where he can continue to improve. 🎯📊

The scores haven’t quite reflected the quality of his golf yet, but his skills are there. It’s only a matter of time before the results begin to match the work he is putting in. 📈

Golfer of the Month isn’t only about scores or trophies. It’s also about effort, attitude and commitment. 💪

It’s about showing up when nobody is watching, practising independently and continuing to learn when progress feels slow.

Thomas has shown all of those qualities.

Congratulations, Thomas. A fully deserved Golfer of the Month award. Keep going because the results are coming! 🏆⛳️👏

⛳️ On course with .brady_ today, working on strategy and taking a closer look at those occasional miss-hits 👀

In a normal one-hour lesson, I only get a snapshot of your game.

On the golf course, there’s nowhere to hide 🏌️‍♀️

Different lies. Different clubs. Different targets. Different decisions. 🎯

That’s when you really start to see why certain shots keep appearing.

We found the fault ✅
Worked through the solution 🛠️
Then put it straight back into play ⛳️

Great fun, some great golf played, and I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits over the next few rounds 🙌

Sometimes the best place to improve your golf isn’t the range.

Heavy, left, right, topped… all from one key move.

With Harris today, the setup looked great. The issue was happening in the downswing.

He was losing his wrist angle too early, causing the club to reach the ground before the ball and forcing him to flick the clubface through impact.

Today we worked on:

* Keeping pressure through the thumb
* Driving the butt of the club towards the back of the ball
* Controlling the clubface with the right-hand knuckles
* Finishing balanced on the left side
* Holding the finish until the ball lands

Better strike. Better face control. Better balance.

Small changes that give Harris much more control over where the ball starts and how it flies.
