Yesterday the Somerset Ladies 2nd Team travelled to Henbury Golf Club to take on the Gloucestershire Ladies 2nd Team in extremely hot conditions across 36 holes of competitive county match golf.

The morning session consisted of 3 foursomes matches over 18 holes, followed by 6 singles matches in the afternoon. Both teams battled hard throughout the day and there was some excellent golf on display from all players involved.

Representing Somerset were Libbie, Arabella, Megan, Abi, Mille and Lilli, led by Somerset Ladies 2nd Team Captain Denise. Every player showed great determination, resilience and team spirit throughout their matches and represented Somerset superbly.

Unfortunately Gloucestershire proved too strong on the day, securing a 7.5 – 1.5 victory. Congratulations to the Gloucestershire Ladies Team on their win.

Whilst the result did not go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the match and valuable lessons learnt which will help the team continue to grow and improve moving forward. We are proud of the fight and attitude shown by every Somerset player from the first tee shot to the final putt.

Attention now turns towards preparations for Match Week, with the Somerset Ladies 1st Team looking forward to practice rounds over the coming weeks at Yeovil Golf Club.

Great start to our Ladies Learn/Play Golf program this week at Saltford Golf Club! ⛳️

We had 9 ladies join us for Week 1 of 4, and what a fantastic session it was! Fun, engaging, and a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.

We focused on the fundamentals to get everyone comfortable:
• Setup basics (grip, posture, alignment)
• Making solid contact
• Building confidence with the first few shots

It’s always great to see so many new faces giving golf a go, supporting each other, and enjoying the learning process together.

This is exactly what these sessions are all about, creating a relaxed environment to learn, improve, and have fun!

Another strong finish in a quality field, opening with 67 👏 Did some work on Friday with Josh and a great display out there!

A fantastic day for our Somerset Ladies Golf 1st & 2nd Team Squad as we hosted our final squad session at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club ⛳️

A huge thank you to Burnham and Berrow Golf Club for hosting us, the opportunity to play the Channel Course with cards in hand was invaluable, and the greens were absolutely superb 👏

The ladies took on some very testing conditions, with slick greens and challenging weather throughout the day. A special congratulations to Lilliana Marshall, who produced an outstanding round of -1 par to win the medal 🥇

Following the golf, the squad took part in a full coaching block:
• Putting & Short Game with Lead Coach Joe Bray
• Warm-Up & Strength & Conditioning with TPI Level 2 Coach, Jamie Lake

Despite the conditions, the effort, attitude and performance levels across the squad were excellent, a real credit to everyone involved 💪

We now look ahead to the South West Intercounties in July, continuing our preparations with the goal of going back-to-back and reaching the National Finals 🔥

Great to kick off our first Somerset Ladies 1st & 2nd Team training session of 2026 today! 💪⛳️ Somerset Ladies Golf

A huge thank you to Cumberwell Park for hosting us and providing such fantastic facilities for the day.

The morning started in the simulators where we carried out wedge testing, strokes gained assessments and a few competitive challenges to get everyone switched on early in the season.

We then moved over to the short game area to complete the International Short Game Skills Test, before a quick refuel and heading back out for a performance putting session.

To finish the day we took it onto the course with 9 holes on the superb par-3 layout, putting everything into practice in a competitive environment.

A brilliant start to the year with a fantastic group of players. Plenty of work done as we begin preparations for the 2026 season, with the goal of winning South West Inter-Counties Week again and pushing for the National Finals.

Excited for the year ahead! 🐸
