Helping another group of great candidates over the last few days to achieve their NRASTC qualification . Two mornings online covering off all the theory, which allowed for the candidates to attend whilst still in work to answer any issues and a full day of practical and assessments today . A new approach from my point of view and as a result I received some great feedback. Check out all of our courses at Swimfocusrescue.co.uk.

🛟 Speak Up - Be a Mate 🛟
Please help us share these important messages from Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK

Rivers that “look calm”
They’re not.
Cold. Currents. Panic
Swimming skills don’t always save you
Say something before it goes wrong.
Mates speak up when someone’s tempted to swim in rivers or lakes where it’s not safe.

Please help us to spread this important message to teenagers and young adults by sharing this post.

🚨DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK🚨

We are proud to be participating in Drowning Prevention Week 🛟

From 13th–20th June, we are working with the Swim Focus swimmers taking part in important water safety activities to help them learn how to stay safe in and around water 🏊

We feel this is even more of an important message this year given the number of recent tragic incidents involving children in open water and want to ensure we are helping to keep children safe in and around water as the warm weather approaches.

Using (Royal Life Saving Society UK) guidance, swimmers will practice key lifesaving skills including:
🏊‍♂️ Floating to live
📣 How to call for help
🛟 Safe rescue awareness
🌊 Understanding different water hazards
đź’ˇ What to do if they ever get into difficulty in the water

Water safety is such an important life skill and something we include in all our swimming lessons. We are proud to help build children’s confidence, knowledge, and awareness in a fun and engaging way ✨

This week I had the pleasure of meeting and training a new group of people to become lifeguards . A wonderful bunch of people to train and I am sure all of them will go on to be great lifeguards .

This is such an important message , especially in light of recent tragic events .

This is such an important message , especially in light of recent tragic events .

Cold water shock can affect anyone - even strong swimmers, even on hot days.

• Warm weather doesn't mean warm water - open water stays dangerously cold.
• Cold water shock causes an involuntary gasp and loss of breathing control within seconds - even for strong swimmers.
• Even confident swimmers can quickly lose strength, control, and coordination. Panic makes it worse.

It doesn't take long for things to go wrong in open water - even for strong swimmers.

With warm weather forecast this weekend and into next week, more of us will enjoy spending time in, on, or around water, so it’s important to stay safe.

Almost half (47%) of UK accidental drownings happen between May and August, with higher risks during warmer weather.

Keep yourself and your family safe:
• Check for hazards, including depth, currents, tides, and hidden underwater objects.
• Stay together and swim in lifeguarded areas.

In an emergency:
• Call 999 immediately
• If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help
