Did someone say "new balls please"?

Yes, our two mens teams did when asked how our third new sponsor for this season could help us.

DWB Timber Engineering had previously sponsored one of our youth teams and we are delighted to announce that they have provided all the new balls for our two open age teams this season.

As we have said many times, its companies, businesses, organisations and families alike that help our club continue to provide for so many local ballers, whatever their age.

Mens August round up...

It's been 2 good, 2 bad for the mens regarding their results during the first two weeks of the season.

A depleted first team kept Kirton town to only a few shots on target and one goal up until the 60th minute of their first game. Only to end up losing 5-1in the end after missing several chances themselves. Fitness and mistakes being the main cause for concern in this one unfortunately.

A week later they travelled away to a strong Great Gonerby side and came away with the three points in a 2-1 win. Fitness was still a slight issue, but the mistakes were kept to a minimum and the desire to make things right from the week before meant they got their first win of the season.

Our new look reserves team had their first game together away at Sutterton. With no fewer than 11 out of the 14 players playing, making their debut for either the club, or the mens team, its not surprising that lack of game time together cost them the three points. In the end, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat after looking good for a long period in the game.

A week later they played their first ever home game at the club against Pointon. Once again a numbers of debutants playing meant it took them a little while to adjust to playing together, but in the end they was good for their first win! They came away 2-1 victors with a stunning winning goal from one of our u17s that has made the step up this season.

All in all, with all the new players, all the u17s stepping up (including two straight to the 1st team for both games), all the things going on in the background including pitch conditions etc, we must appreciate the start we have made. Bringing in so many new faces and having 8 or 9 u17s stepping up is definitely a proud moment for the club, and that just shows we are on the right path.

We've also been lucky to have two new sponsors join the fold this year!
The Sportsman have sponsored our new home kit and the Whelbourn family (MIMI) have sponsored our away kit, plus more.
Without people like these, putting their money into our club, at whatever age group, we genuinely wouldn't be able to continue to grow and to continue to offer around 180 young people and their families a club to call their own.

The U11s at the Boston Colts would like to give a massive thank you to our new match kit sponsor Strategic Vehicle Solutions for their amazing support over this summer and into the next two seasons!

With that being said, this weekend, the U11s headed to Bardney for a tournament, as they look to push forward with their pre season preparations!

The day started with a tricky fixture against HBW United, which saw the Colts challenged all over the pitch. A great game however, with much needed minutes in a new formation, which, as the day progressed, turned out to be a pivotal moment.

Heading into game 2,3, and 4 the colts displayed excellent defensive strength, denying goals in all 3 for their opponents. This defensive strength can be attributed to both the teams amazing adaptability and their perseverance when tracking back. Going forward, the colts enjoyed the ball, playing some really entertaining football, seeing an array of goal scorers, which resulted in a push for top spot of the group stage.

We played hosts, Bardney, in the last game of the group. A quick start saw the Colts profit early on with no signs of slowing down. However, this positive football was soon replied to, a great turnaround by Bardney put the sides into a very level game heading into the last five minutes.

With that being said, the Colts were through to the semi finals, where they played the Carlton Mustangs. The Colts played their hearts out all day, but especially in this one. Even when conceding, this side made sure they did everything they could to find a goal, but their passion for winning the ball back was one of the highlights throughout the game, full team recoveries which prevented the Mustangs from furthering their advantage.

Overall, an absolutely amazing day of football from the U11s, who enjoyed every minute of it! With this, they took part in some crucial learning which will better prepare us as we head into the next two weeks before our first game of the season!

Our first game of the season u13s greens against north lindum hawks united at garfits park was going to be a test as the boys had gone up one league from last year. With a straight 9 players we knew it would be a good test for the boys. They started of well scoring the first goal in 4 mins second in 16 mins and they was playing as a team being unfortunate in missing some goals after 30 mins nlh had 2 injuries so was down to 8 players so the call was made that we would drop to 8 players aswell.
Start of the second half we continued to play 8v8 as their two subs still didn't feel good enough to play so for the next 35mins it gave our players to have some short breaks throughout this half. 7 mins in no 3 was scored,3 minutes later no 4 was scored 13 mins in saw nlh score, 22 mins saw our 5th,30 mins saw our 6th and just before the final whistle blew no 7 went in. Final score of 7-1 all the players was happy with their first result of the season
