FC Bridgewater

FC Bridgewater FC Bridgewater are a family orientated club based in Boothstown with a number of age group teams. encourage sportsmanship and good behaviour.

Formally St Andrews FC, the club was originally formed by Daren Trussell in February of 2000. Daren had recently moved into the area and after unsuccessfully trying to find an appropriate fun and child orientated local team for his eldest son to join he decided to start his own . The team entered the BBDJFL in the September of 2000 in the U7s age group. Three years later a second team was formed i

n which Daren’s younger son played along with many of the current U15s St Andrews Hawks team. It was at this point that Ian Bocock and Rob Davidson became involved with the club as coaches. In 2004 Daren resigned as Chairman and Ian and Rob became Chairman and Secretary, respectively. Over the next six years the club grew under the leadership of a supportive team as new age groups were created year on year and more volunteers took on demanding roles both on the coaching and administration side. Today the club has 15 teams/age groups participating in football games and training.

2010 saw the club celebrate its 10th anniversary and enter a new era, under a new leadership team headed by Chris Varma. If you would like your son or daughter to enjoy football in a supportive and nurturing environment then please come and join the St Andrews family. The Club Ethos

FCB Vikings v BLGC Wanderers

A really tough but highly entertaining away game for Vikings against BLGC Wanderers, played in hot conditions and with no substitutes available. Vikings were lucky to have special guest Nathan from Spartans, who stepped up brilliantly and fitted into the team really well.

Vikings started brightly and had the better of the early play, with Nathan showing some lovely touches going forward and Mika bringing real energy and determination down the right. Luis began in goal and was excellent, showing safe hands and some big kicks forward to help the team get up the pitch. BLGC took the lead after cutting through the defence, but Vikings responded brilliantly and did not let their heads drop.

The second quarter was Vikings at their very best. Luis moved out of goal and was almost unplayable up front, scoring a brilliant hat-trick in one quarter. Mika also caused constant problems with his running and strength, and added another well taken goal. Harrison pressed with real intensity and helped the team win the ball high up the pitch, while Nathan had an excellent spell in goal, making a number of outstanding saves. By the end of the second quarter, Vikings were deservedly in control.

The third quarter was much tougher. Aayush went in goal and made an excellent save from a cracker of a shot, but Vikings started to lose their shape a little and Wanderers took advantage. Without any subs, tired legs started to show, and a few loose passes and gaps in positioning allowed BLGC back into the game. This quarter showed how quickly momentum can change when the team stops keeping its shape.

The final quarter was Vikings’ toughest, with BLGC taking control of the final part of the game and scoring six across the quarter as they exploited the spaces that started to appear. Nathan went back in goal and, despite some difficult moments, still produced some brilliant saves under heavy pressure. Vikings did manage a late flurry, with Luis scoring his fourth of the game from a superb direct free kick and Mika adding his second with another excellent finish, but it came too late to change the result, with Wanderers finishing strongly

There were lots of positives from the first half in particular: Luis’ finishing, Mika’s energy and goals from the right, Harrison’s pressing, Nathan’s saves and willingness to step in wherever needed, and Aayush’s blocks and effort in defence and goal. There is also plenty to work on in training, especially keeping shape, staying calm under pressure, and making stronger passes out from the back. With no substitutes and the heat making it even harder, the lads had to work incredibly hard and rotate positions, including in goal, with Luis, Aayush and Nathan all taking their turns between the posts.

Pre-Season Friendlies
⚽ FC Bridgewater Cantona vs Collyhurst Green
⚽ FC Bridgewater Cantona vs TFG Vikings
Back-to-back games for the Cantona team today, and what a day it was! The beautiful sunny morning provided perfect football conditions, and the boys took full advantage of it. 💯
Our first game against Collyhurst Green was an excellent contest. Facing an experienced Division 11 side was never going to be easy, but Cantona delivered a fantastic performance from start to finish.
Cantona took the lead through Affan after a brilliant individual moment. Collyhurst responded quickly to level the game, but Frankie was in the right place at the right time to restore our lead, calmly finishing past the goalkeeper after a perfect assist from Aaron.
Collyhurst reacted again and took the lead during the second quarter. However, our boys showed great character and determination. Aaron grabbed his first goal of the game, only for Collyhurst to edge ahead once more. Aaron then produced some superb dribbling to score his second and bring Cantona level again.
When Collyhurst found the net once more, Saint stepped up and scored two outstanding goals to put Cantona back in front. Although Collyhurst managed another goal, it wasn't enough, as Aaron and Affan added further strikes to secure a deserved victory for Cantona.

Our second game against TFG Vikings was another good test. The boys produced a strong first-half performance, but after putting so much energy into the opening game, fatigue started to show in the second half and the result wasn't the one we wanted. Despite that, the effort and attitude remained excellent throughout.

Make that 8! The Avengers extended their amazing winning run to 8 games today with a solid win! We started very bright, full of pressing & confidence with some nice early chances. However Leigh Genesis soon settled & stepped it up with some nice moves up the pitch themselves. A lovely transition saw the 1st goal come our way. After this we started regaining control and really hit our stride. 3 up at half time. 2nd half there were some brilliant passing moves up the pitch with nice lay offs, 1-2’s and great wide runs. A fantastic shift from all the boys on another hot morning and a well deserved win.

Well done birthday boy Seb for reading the shots brilliantly today with many quick low catches, Charlie for very determined pressing and a lovely hat trick, Marcus for fantastic energy & effort in everything he did up & down the pitch and our MOTM Louie for a relentless shift, great drives forward, great crosses and gut-busting runs back to get last ditch tackles in and a great goal line clearance 👏🔵⚫️

FCB Vikings V Oxford Grove Tigers

A highly entertaining back and forth game between these two sides who always share close contests and this game was no exception. Vikings were forced into a reshuffle with Reuben and Henry both unavailable (the latter undergoing an X-ray at the same time as the game!) meaning options in net were going to be limited, though we need not have worried in the end thanks to the selfless of a number of the lads.

Vikings started the faster of the two and had some good opportunities with Aaran, Michalis and Maaz all going close with good solo efforts. However it was Tigers against the run of play who were first on the scoreboard.

Vikings quickly took control and captain Harrison finished a brilliant solo effort. He was instrumental in the next goal making a crunching tackle in midfield and assisting Mika to score his goal.

Aayush remained critical at the back with his trademark tackling however as Tigers made breaks the numbers played their part and they were good value for their goals.

The second half was dominated by Luis who having started in net came out to score an impressive hat trick over the last 2 quarters, all from brilliant dribbling moves which the opposition had no answer for.

Harrison and Michalis both had good stints in goal during these quarters however Tigers pressure and accuracy from corners was to prove the difference.

The lads adapted well to personnel and positional changes and should take pride from the excellent attitude shown throughout the game.

⚽️ Pre-Season Friendly ⚽️FC Bridgewater Cantona 🆚 Tigers Dukinfield FC
On a proper hot and sunny Saturday, our Cantona team played their second pre-season friendly match against Tigers Dukinfield FC — and what a game it was! 👏
A couple of new players joined the Cantona squad this week and fitted in perfectly with the rest of the team.
Cantona faced a tough opponent, but the boys never gave up for a second. Tigers took the lead early on, but our team showed great character to fight back into the game.
Saint scored our first goal with a superb run through the Tigers defence and a brilliant finish.
Tigers managed to take the lead again, but Cantona responded once more. Affan scored a great goal and Alfie added two superb finishes to level the game again.
Tigers eventually scored again after catching our defence slightly too high up the pitch, but overall it was another fantastic performance from the boys, who continue to improve game by game. 🔵⚫️⚽️
👏 Player Performances 👏
🧤 Alfie – Started in goal and made a couple of brilliant saves. After moving onto the pitch, he showed excellent striker instincts and scored two great goals. Alfie also had some fantastic individual moments, showing real dribbling quality.
⚡️ Frankie – Worked tirelessly up front, making runs and creating space for his teammates. Frankie had a couple of chances to score, but the ball just didn’t want to find the net this time.
🔥 Affan – Amazing effort, endless energy, and fantastic teamwork throughout the match. Affan started in defence before moving into attack and managed to score a brilliant goal.
🎯 Saint – Outstanding individual effort and fantastic skill on the ball. Saint controlled the midfield like a pro, provided assists for teammates, and scored a brilliant goal himself.
💪 Aaron – Strong performance with excellent tackles and positive forward runs. Aaron looked to involve his teammates at every opportunity and was fully committed every second he played.
✨ Boa – Very good game with some lovely dribbling skills and a couple of chances to score. Boa worked hard to drive the team forward with the ball.
🙌 Josiah - good game with loads of trying to bring the ball forward and attempts to find his teammates with passes.

🌟 Lewie – Another absolutely brilliant performance. Excellent tackling, stopped countless opposition attacks, showed fantastic teamwork, and even went in goal to help the team keep Tigers out.
This was Cantona’s first experience on a big pitch, and the team did a fantastic job. The boys continue to work hard in training and improve with every game. 👏
Absolutely proud of you all once again.

Bridgewater U10s Avengers vs Euxton Villa U10s Reds

7 WINS IN A ROW!!!

Huge well done boys for battling well on a big pitch with no subs on a hot morning. Euxton Villa gave us a strong challenge today and the lads had to work for it. We were confident on the ball and played it through into the forward spaces brilliantly which created most of our chances today. The start of the second half was a little shakey but we soon solidified again to see the game out well.

Well done Seb for good communication in the second half and a couple of class saves, Hudson for great clearances and interceptions, Noah for lovely strength on the ball and nice covering runs, Charlie for his pacey pressing and a nice finish, Marcus for some brilliantly timed slide tackles and a very clever finish and our joint MOTM Louie for his ripping pace & confident take ons down the wing & a great assist and Cole for brilliant creativity and 2 fantastic goals 👏💙🖤

LEIGH GENESIS 1 TORNADOES 3

Tornadoes were the back foot before we started only 8 players at kick off! Nevertheless the lads showed amazing team spirit and resilience against a very strong team that had 5 subs available on a hot day, and for the record we’re not going to play 8v8!
Typical Reece, Luke and jack solid defensive display very organised with safe hands of Joe in goal. Will mopped up easily any half chances they had in a very tough centre midfield roll with no Thomas in front of him to help! Dorian and Dennis caused problems all afternoon eventually falling to Josh who scored an amazing looping goal 0-1. Must say credit to Josh and Dorian for not reacting (too much)who were kicked and pulled all game, should have been a couple of yellows for their team at least!

Seconds half Joes long ball found Josh who rounded the keeper 0-2. Leigh struck back with a half chance close range, only for Josh to straight away set up Dennis for a great goal 1-3.
Apart from Josh’s missed penalty in last minute it was a great team performance from a champion winning team! All their coaches and parents congratulated us in our ability and solid team ethics all players played for each other! Might have to re name us to Spartans for next season!

Semi Final Match Report
⚽ FC Bridgwater Titans U7s 2 – 2 Ladybridge U7s
(Ladybridge won on penalties)
What a game. What a team. What a cup run.
FC Bridgwater Titans bowed out of the cup competition in the cruellest way possible after an incredible 2-2 battle ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Ladybridge in the semi-final.
The boys gave absolutely everything from the first whistle to the last and should be unbelievably proud of themselves. To go through the entire cup competition unbeaten and only lose on penalties is a huge achievement and shows just how far this team has come.
Every single player played their part and represented the club brilliantly — Fabio, Elliot, Toby, Cobie, Sam, Will and Harrison all worked tirelessly, showed great determination and never stopped battling for each other.
The Titans showed fantastic teamwork, effort and courage throughout the match. Even when things got tough, the boys kept going, played with smiles on their faces and left everything out on the pitch.
Losing on penalties is always hard to swallow, especially after such an amazing performance, but the lads can hold their heads high. They did themselves, their coaches and their families incredibly proud.
This team has been fantastic throughout the whole cup run and the future is very bright for these young Titans. 💙⚽
