Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

A huge well done to Corban who competed for his school team at Blackshots, Thurrock last Tuesday in the English Schools A Cup Final. As well as throwing the discus he ran a mahoosive new 800m PB by 10 seconds to a very rapid 2.11 😲😲. Congratulations Corban, absolutely superb running 🏃‍♂️ 👏 👌 👍.

Arron was selected to represent Castle Point & Rochford Borough at the Essex Schools Champs on Saturday at Chelmsford. In a large field of 16 javelin competitors his first two throws were just short of his PB. He narrowly missed a top 6 placing to go into the final rounds of 3 more throws. A great experience with the addition of the red arrows fly past towards the end 😀. Well done Arron 💪🙌👌👏👏.

Our Saturday Parkrunner for the weekend was Ben who completed Hockley PR and was rewarded with a shiny new PB time, 24th overall (179 finishers), and fastest in his age category.

Not to be outdone our younger runners were out in force at Northlands yesterday. Jessica was 1st home overall showing the lads how it's done. She pushed Jacob round to 2nd spot and another PB time duly earnt. James was next in 9th, Blake 12th and Harry in 16th with our hatrick of parkrun PBs. Our chief smiler Chloe came home in a creditable 27th place out if 52 runners. Well done to each of our Parkrunning SuperStars 🌟 🤩 👌👍.

Tomorrow 16th June, we are at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Please bring your water, hats and suncream as necessary. Unfortunately, there will be NO session next week, Tuesday 23rd June as both Terry & I have a prior commitment, apologies.

Saturday 20th June, our normal training venue of Waterside Track, 10am - 11am. PLEASE NOTE that there will be NO Saturday session next the 27th June as Terry & I have HARP24 hour run/walk to do in Southend on Saturday and Sunday 🙄😬.

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Firstly, a very warm welcome to Jesse and his mum Amy 👋.

A huge well done to both Harry C & Arron who were in action yesterday at Chelmsford in the Eastern Young Athletes League. Harry started his day with a big leap out of his comfort zone to compete in the pole vault. We have no official results yet but not many clubs have representatives in this event so he will have done extremely well and nabbed himself a new PB at the same time. I've attached a great picture (not mine), of him in action and a reminder that you've got to be in it, to win it. Well done Harry for stepping up.....onwards and upwards 😊👌👍. Back to running next, where he stormed his way around the 1500m, narrowly missing his PB.

Arron was throwing in the javelin, where he had to put the gremlins from his last outing at Chelmsford to rest. Never fear, with three consistent throws all within 30cms of each other he finished in a creditable 3rd place. Well done lads 💪👏👏👏.

Team Unett recieve all the PR kudos for Northlands Junior Parkrun yesterday. Take a bow Jessica who was first female home again, 4th overall. James, who clearly had caught up on his sleep from his residential was next in 10th with a shiny new PB time. Closely followed by Harry in 18th and our chief smiler and pocket rocket Chloe who also ran herself to a shiny new PB also. Congratulations guys 🥳🥳👏👏.

Tomorrow 9th June, we are at WATERSIDE, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. The forecast looks like we should avoid the rain 🤞🤞. Unfortunately, we'll not be able to hold a session on Tuesday 23rd June as both Terry & I have a prior commitment.

Saturday 13th June, our normal training venue of Waterside Track, 10am - 11am. Just a heads up that there will be NO Saturday session on the 27th June as Terry & I have a little 24 hour run/walk to do in Southend on Saturday and Sunday 🙄😬.

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We hope everyone had a fantastic Half Term break 😎😎.

No rest for Jessica on Bank Holiday Monday at the Hatfield Broad Oak Fun Run. Despite another scorcher of a day she ran herself to an impressive 3rd female spot and 7th overall. Congratulations Jessica 🎉🥉👌👏.

Arron was competing at the Eastern County Champs at Cambridge on Saturday in the U16s. Another heat intensive day with no stand or any shade to escape to 🥵. Sadly, not his best day at the discus but he still managed an 8th spot against a hugely competitive field. The javelin was a much better story and a couple of throws close to his best saw him finish in 5th place. Well done Arron, great experience going forward 💪👌👍👏.

No Sunday parkrunners this week as they were all competing at the Benfleet 1.5 mile race. Thankfully, it was slightly cooler conditions but it's still a tough, hilly course, taking in the final hills of the Hadleigh Parkrun. Fantastic runs all round from the gang with Jacob leading the charge, closely followed by Jake and then James. Blake was next to appear with Harry hot on his heels and our little superstar Chloe, supported by Jessica & Kelly.

Awesome stuff from each and every one of the gang as they mixed it with the rest of the local kids running and athletic clubs. No official results yet, but it was brilliant to see them all turn into that final hilly chicane, smiles on their faces and determined to race all the way to the finish line. Lots of support and cheering for each other too. Super proud of them all. Thank you to the parents for bringing them 🫶. A great bit of bling and sweets at the end made the hard work all worth while 💪 🙌 😀 👏.

Tomorrow 2nd June, we are at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Rain looks forecast but as you know "if it's raining, we're still training". HOWEVER, if there is also "thunder & lightening, it's too frightening", so we will cancel the session. Stay tuned for updates in the afternoon ⛈️☔️⚡️.

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Firstly, a warm welcome to Oliver and his mum Rebecca 👋👋.

I don't normally report on school sports days but I've attached a cracking little video of Phoenix winning her Y4 sprint race at Hadleigh Juniors this week. She is on the far side and shows just what a huge improvement she's made over the last year. A fantastic run Phoenix, congratulations 💪👌👏👏.

Very well done to Arron who secured a second spot in the javelin at Thursday's Senior School District Field Events at Fitzwimarc. He has now been selected to represent Castle Point Borough at the Essex Borough Champs at Chelmsford in June. Great throwing Arron 🙌👊👏👏.

Yesterday was the Thameside 10k, 5k & 1k races. Huge congratulations to Jessica who despite the heat stormed her way around the 5k to finish 2nd female and 1st U16 girl. There was a mess up with the race results but she was eventually awarded with her trophy 🏆 😍.

Shortly afterwards James took on the 1k, but there was some confusion with the marshalls and all the front runners were sent the wrong way. After much concern, James appeared on the horizon, as cool as a cucumber having made his own way back. We're not sure how far he ran or where he came but he was a complete professional. Awesome James. What a superstar 😍 ✨️ 🙌.

Just the lads out Parkrunning this week. Congratulations to Ben who clocked at great time as a first timer at Greenwich PR on Saturday. Yesterday, at Northlands it was the turn of our youngsters with Jacob finishing in 2nd place, closely followed by Jake in 3rd, both smidgeons off there PBs. They were backed up nicely by Blake finishing in 13th. Well done lads 💪👍👏👏.

Tomorrow 26th May, we are at WATERSIDE TRACK, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session. All are welcome, even our Saturday only gang 😊👍. It will be a warm one but we will adjust the session accordingly. Please bring plenty of water.

Saturday 30th May, PLEASE NOTE there will be NO session this week as we are attending the Eastern County Champs in Cambridge.

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Some fantastic results to report on this week with the emphasis mainly on our rising star Jessica.

She kicked her week off on Tuesday competing at the English Schools Cup Rd1 at Blackshots, Thurrock. Despite a fall in the 1500m with 300m left to go, she got up, carried on, and finished in 5th place, knocking 5 seconds off her PB time for a 5.59. Undeterred with cut, plastered knees she ran at the Crown - Crown 5k the next evening. Unfortunately, her and the pack of men she was keeping up with were sent the wrong way by a marshal. BUT, again, to her credit, she kept going and amazingly finished top junior female and was rewarded with a nice big box of chocolates 🍫 . Congratulations Jessica, character building stuff 💪👍👌👏👏.

Also getting the nod from his school to compete at the English Schools Cup was Corban who had a fantastic start to his outdoor season running a new PB time by 1 second in the 800m of 2.20. Well done Corbs 🙌👊🫶👏.

Just the one parkrunner from yesterday which was of course Jessica at Hawkwell Junior PR. Stiff competition saw her finish 5th overall but still top female with a brand new course PB to add to her collection. Great stuff Jessica 👏 👍 👌 🙌.

Tomorrow 19th May, we are at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Please ensure your child has an extra layer on as it's still quite chilly in the evenings. We will still be taking a session next week during Half Term 26th May, so all are welcome, even our Saturday only gang 😊👍.

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Firstly, we would like to wish all of our Yr6's and Yr11's the very best for their SATs & GCSEs over the next few weeks. You've got this guys 🍀🍀.

Secondly, a very warm welcome to Freddie and his Dad Darren, and Thomas and his Mum Sarah 👋👋.

A result from a couple of weekends ago is first on my list. Massive kuddos to Harry C who gained a huge new PB in his 800m at the Eastern Youth Athletic League at Basildon. Not only coming in 2nd place he stormed his way to a brilliant new time of 2.18 knocking seconds off of his best.

Just to prove this was not a one off, he competed at the Essex Championships in Chelmsford yesterday. To make it through to the final he came 3rd in his heat in a another new PB of 2.17. With only 2 hours to regroup and rest, he ran the final in 2.19 and came 7th in Essex!!!

Arron was throwing at the Essex Champs yesterday too, where he secured a place in the Discus final and is now 7th in Essex also!!! Congratulations to our Essex lads. It is worth mentioning that due to changes in the age groupings they are both competing as Under 16 boys, with Arron just turning 14 and Harry not turning 14 until August. Next year looks even more promising 💪👌👍👏👏.

A return to Northlands for all of our resident Junior Parkrunners yesterday saw Jessica finish in 2nd place and 1st female, narrowly followed by Jake in 3rd, James U in 8th, Harry U in 13th and Chloe in 34th out of 62 finishers. Way to go guys and gals 😊🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🫶🫶.

Tomorrow 12th May, we are at WATERSIDE TRACK, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Please ensure your child has an extra layer on as it's still quite chilly in the evenings. We will still be taking a session during Half Term 26th May, so all are welcome, even our Saturday only gang 😊👍.

Saturday 16th May, Waterside Track. 10am - 11am, £2 for the session unless paid Tuesday. PLEASE NOTE that there is a football festival starting at 9am this week. The car park will be busier than normal (if that's possible), so please allow extra time. Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Morning All, We hope everyone has had a great long bank holiday weekend.

Last Wednesday Harry C kicked off his outdoor track season at the monthly Watford Open Age Graded Event. Tackling the 1500m for the first time Harry ran a superb time of 4.49, to finish in 2nd place putting a formidable line in the sand going forward. Great running Harry, many congratulations 👌👍🫶👏👏.

We had 3 first timers at 2 different Parkrun events this Saturday. The return of our Parkrun favourites Ben & Caitlin travelled to ARU Writtle and Harry C was back in action finishing in 14th place for his first attempt at Rutland Water. Well done guys 👍 💪 👏.

Today 5th May, we are at JOHN BURROWS, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Please ensure your child has an extra layer on as it's still quite chilly in the evenings. Many thanks

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Did we all watch the marathon? Any FOMO? Has anyone been inspired? One of my favourite quotes, which spans over any age or ability is - "The task ahead of you is never greater than the strength within you".

A huge well done and congratulations to all of our amazing adult CPJ marathon finishers 🎉🥇🎉🥇🎉.

We had one of our own mini marathoners competing on Saturday in London. Following in the footsteps of Mo Farah, Josh Kerr, Jake Wightman and Keeley Hodgkinson, Corban was lucky enough to run again for his school. An amazing, incredible performance saw him finish 2nd place in his wave, only being narrowly beaten by a YR10 lad. He was also rewarded with an awesome improvement of 30 seconds on last year's time. Huge congratulations Corban. We hope you enjoyed your experience 🎉🥇💪👌🫶.

Apologies to James U who sneaked under my radar last Sunday to be a first timer at Burnham On Crouch Junior PR, finishing in 6th place. Well done James 👍 🙌 👏.

Yesterday, Team Unett shined with the sun at Northlands, in what looked like a very rapid race. Running a fantastic new PB Jessica finished in 3rd place, 2nd female. James followed in 7th with a new PB too. Closely followed by Harry in 17th place and smiling her way also to a new PB was Chloe in 28th place out of 52 finishers. Great running guys 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️🏃👍👏.

Tomorrow 28th April, we are at WATERSIDE, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. Don't forget your chairs if you are staying to watch and plenty of water.

Saturday 2nd May, Waterside Track. 10am - 11am, £2 for the session unless paid Tuesday. This will be our Saturday home for the rest of the season, with a possible Basildon Parkrun thrown in during the summer holidays. Watch this space.......

Young Runners Training News & Updates 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

I think everyone was having a well earned break after the Easter Holidays last week as there are no results to report on, unless I've missed something. Please let me know if I have.

A big thank you to all of our athletes and parents for a seamless transition back outdoors last week. Just a reminder that Canvey has its own micro climate so even if it feels warm in your back gardens, the kids will still need a jumper/coat on until they warm up.

Tomorrow 21st April, we are at JOHN BURROWS PARK, 6pm - 7pm, £2 for the session or week. We will meet as per last year, behind the tennis courts. There are picnic benches but please bring a chair if you wish. The ground is rock hard so normal trainers will be fine.

Saturday 25th April, Waterside Track. 10am - 11am, £2 for the session unless paid Tuesday. This will be our Saturday home for the rest of the season, with a possible Basildon Parkrun thrown in during the summer holidays. Watch this space.......
