Bank Holiday Monday Results 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️
A great day was had by all and we hope our Young Runners enjoyed the day, they certainly did themselves and the club proud. We also had two older ex members, who Terry & I coached from when they were 8 years old, join our little team, which was really special. I'd like to see the final medal table, as I think for a smaller, non athletic club, we smashed it 💪 👍 👏 👌 🙌 🫶.
First up was Corban in the 800m who ran a superb race to finish just outside of his best time in 2.17.
Arron and our first ex member Liam were next up to throw the shot put. Liam threw 9.42 and Arron increased his PB by a whopping 3 metres to throw 9.37. Whilst the lads were in action Maia was throwing the turbo javelin and picked up our first medal of the day, finishing in 3rd place 🥉 with a throw of 9.69. She was closely followed by Jake who threw 12.99 in his own turbo javelin competition.
Performances were coming in thick and fast as Owen was next up on the track. He stormed down the finish straight to a 4th place in the 50m, in a cracking time of 9.51. Liam was back in action, and our only jumper of the day in the High Jump where he cleared just short of his PB, a height of 1.70. Before lunch we picked up 2 more medals with Owen throwing the howler to a massive distance of 32.05 to secure a silver medal 🥈. Yours truly attempted a few shot puts to regain my gold medal title in the old lady category🥇.
After lunch, action was back on the track with Jake in the 600m who ran his socks off to our 2nd big PB of the day, knocking 10 seconds off his best time to run 2.05. Next up the 400m and a brave run from Maia saw her achieve another huge PB of 13 seconds to run 1.33. Also running the 400m was Millie, our 2nd returnee for the day, in the WU20 race. A stonking run and another new PB gained Millie our 2nd gold of the day 🥇.
Terry then took to the track to run his 1500m. Showing how it's done, he ran 15 seconds quicker than he predicted he would, in 5.14, finishing in 1st place and our 3rd gold of the day 🥇. Our duo of Arron & Liam were next up in the discus, where Liam threw a smidgeon more than Arron again at 29.81 to recieve a bronze medal 🥉. Jake then rounded off his day in the 150m, running a creditable 24.96. To finish the day off, in the final event of the day, (they'd closed the toilets by now 😆), yours truly flipped the discus enough to nab us our 4th top spot and gold of the day 🥇.
All in all, not a bad day in the office and not only superb performances from the whole gang but huge praise and thanks to everyone for cheering and supporting each other on throughout the day. Well done Team CPJ Young Runners, top drawer stuff. Be proud 👏👏👌👌👍👍🫶🫶💙🤍
