AFC Pogmoor Girls U18 Reds AFC Pogmoor Girls play in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women and Girls League and have done so since under 9s.

We finished the 2024 / 2025 season as runners up in division 2 and runners up in the Sheffield Shield.

We moved to Poggy Rec for the game against Barnsley Women yesterday and it turned out to be a fiery affair. 2 early goals for the away side put the pressure on the Poggy girls, but after the restart, and at 2-0 down, we really took it to the opposition but could only manage to pull one goal back. Barnsley added another goal from a rare second half breakaway to run out 3-1 winners.

Parents' girl of the game went to Lola (sponsored by Handle Trade LTD ) for a really energetic display up front, while the Coaches went for Isabel (sponsored by Rose And Ivy Media - Wedding Photo & Video ) for a committed display first in her normal defensive role, and then playing up front for the second half.

It wasn't to be yesterday at Woodview as we fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Crosspool. Despite some neat passages of play, we didn't really get going and 2 early goals from set pieces saw us up against it for the rest of the game.

There were still some good individual performances, none more so than Lauren P (sponsored by ) in midfield who constantly wanted the ball, passing and moving to try to get the girls moving forward, and she deservedly picked up the Coaches girl of the game. The parent's girl of the game went to Lola (sponsored by Handle Trade LTD), for yet another energetic and committed performance, unsettling the opposition at every opportunity.

No game this weekend but the girls were back at Woodview last night for training on grass for the first time since September as the better weather and lighter nights arrive.

Tough conditions today at Woodview as the girls played out a 0 - 0 draw with local rivals Pen*stone Blacks.

Girl of the game for the parents went to Sophia (sponsored by ) and the coaches award went to Olivia (sponsored by IVS Assessment ), both being recognised for their effort, intensity and never-say-die attitude in a scrappy game. 👏👏👏

It's getting towards the end of the season and we thought it would be good to try and raise a bit of extra cash for the girls towards their presentation.

We have put together a small Easter Hamper which contains about £30 worth of goodies:

1 XL Mini Eggs egg
1 large Twirl egg
1 medium Malteser egg
1 small White Buttons egg
1 box of 5 Creme Eggs
1 box of 5 White Creme Eggs
1 bag Cadburys minis mix
1 110g Mini Eggs chocolate bar
2 bags of Easter Haribo
2 bags of Jelly Babies chicks
1 bunny chocolate lolly
1 mug/hot chocolate set
1 box of Easter shortbread biscuits

Numbers are £2.50 each, 1-60, with the following numbers remaining:

16, 19, 28, 31, 32, 34, 41, 42, 45, 49, 50, 53, 57, 60

The draw will be made on Good Friday so hopefully we can sell all the remaining numbers and have a full draw.

It wasn't to be yesterday at Woodview as the girls lost out 3 - 1 to a robust Eckington side, losing their 8 match unbeaten run. The away team also closed the gap on the hosts in the league table to just 2 points with a game in hand.

Kara had equalised straight after Eckington had opened the scoring but the home side found chances rare in what was a very tetchy, stop-start game that the young referee handled very well.

Parent's girl of the game went to Grace (sponsored by Bottle & Co ). Coaches girl of the game went to Sophia (sponsored by ).

The girls made the long trip to the other side of Doncaster this morning to face Harworth Colliery and returned home with all the points after a 3 - 0 win.

A good all round performance, with goals from Miley and Kara putting us 2 - 0 up at the break. Lola capped a fine display up front with the goal of the game to make it 3 - 0 early in the second half, after a fantastic through ball from Grace.

Parents girl of the game was Miley (sponsored by groundcare ) with the Coaches choice going to Niamh (sponsored by Berrys Opticians ).
