Our very own Ethan “Fridge” Holmwood (Ethan Holmwood), currently in Australia playing for the Norths Eagles, recently took some time out from his playing commitments to do what he loves most – coaching the next generation of players.

It’s fantastic to see Ethan sharing his knowledge, experience and passion for the game with young players on the other side of the world. A great ambassador for Advantage and a brilliant role model for aspiring players, showing that giving back to the game is just as important as playing it.

We’re incredibly proud of everything Ethan is achieving both on and off the field and look forward to following the rest of his Australian adventure. 🏉🌏

Pre-Season Fixtures Locked In! 🏉

New for this season, we have introduced a pre-season block fixture with Gresham’s School, giving both sets of players the opportunity to prepare for the season ahead and build valuable match fitness.

We are also excited to introduce our U18 Invitational Team, which is free to join for both Academy alumni players and invited players. For more information, please get in touch.

It promises to be a fantastic late summer’s evening of rugby, with plans underway to round off the matches with a BBQ and refreshments in the Norfolk sunshine.

It’s really important to us that we support players in continuing their rugby journey and maintaining their love for the game long after they leave us. We work hard to help players and their families find the right educational pathway, ensuring they can continue their studies while accessing a high-quality rugby programme.

These opportunities may include state-sector options such as Easton College, Wymondham College, or the ACE programme at Loughborough College. For some players, there may also be scholarship opportunities at one of our partner independent schools: Langley School, Norwich School, or Gresham’s School.

Our aim is to ensure every player has the opportunity to develop both academically and on the rugby field, in an environment that best suits their ambitions, aspirations, and individual needs. 🏉📚

Our supporting clubs and schools are working together to increase opportunities and game time for our talented state school players.

Many of our players receive little or no rugby development through their schools and are often at least 14 matches per year behind their independent school counterparts. That gap becomes even greater when training time, strength and conditioning, coaching support, and performance feedback are taken into account.

We would like to thank our local independent schools for their support of the Advantage Programme. Through coaching expertise, specialist equipment, and competitive fixtures, they help provide opportunities that challenge and develop our players.

This support has a significant impact not only on the players involved but also on our thriving local rugby clubs, with young athletes from across the county benefiting from the opportunities created through the Advantage Programme.

Together, we are helping to grow the game and provide more young people with the chance to reach their potential.

🏉 Tomorrow we welcome back our Minis Academy for the second block of five sessions!

This week, our young players will be developing their kicking and catching skills, focusing on different ways to kick the ball and how to safely and effectively catch high balls.
