We’re asking our local community, friends and supporters to get behind Dempseys Boxing Academy and help us raise some much-needed funds for the season ahead.

We’re a volunteer-run registered charity and work hard to keep boxing affordable and accessible for everyone.

Massive thanks to Ropes and Glory Boxing Club & for making the trip down tonight.

Some quality rounds for the boys. All in all, we had 23 boys matched and 70-odd rounds of sparring our biggest night of sparring at the club so far, massive milestone for us.

We had some boys having their first taste of inter-club sparring tonight, showing real heart and determination, you can teach a-lot but that’s something that can’t be taught.

Massively proud of all the boys tonight. Plenty learnt, plenty to work on, plenty more to come.

BE RESPECTFUL & TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY

Respect goes both ways.

Remember, times when coaches drive you to shows, take you to training, pick you up and drop you off, often in their own time and at their own expense. They don’t have to do any of that. They do it because they care and want to see you succeed.

Coaches give up evenings, weekends and time with their own families to help you improve. In return, all that’s expected is respect, discipline, accountability and the right attitude.

Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is recognising when you’ve made one, owning it, learning from it and moving forward.

Boxing is about becoming a better person as well as a better boxer.

Respect your club. Respect your teammates. Respect your coaches. Respect the sport. Always hold yourself accountable when necessary.
