Second cup game in a row for the boys this morning, this time against AFC Chestnut in the North Hants Chris Price Cup - Semi-Final.
With the pitch conditions far from ideal once again, the lads refused to let that affect their standards. From the first whistle, we were in complete control. The only frustration at half-time was that the scoreline didnβt truly reflect our dominance, going in just one goal up.
The message at the break was simple: stay patient, continue what we were doing and the goals would come. And they certainly did.
An early second-half goal settled any doubt and, from that moment on, the intensity lifted another level. Big individual battles were being won all over the pitch and the boys were well and truly up for it. A red card each shifted the momentum briefly with a bit of a pause in the game, but the lads responded well and remained in complete control until the final whistle.
In the end, a commanding 6-0 victory and with it, a place in the North Hants Final.
βοΈ - Joint MOTM this week awarded to both - Both worked tirelessly off the ball and showed real quality when in possession. To cap off their brilliant performances, Ollie scored an outstanding header at a crucial moment to put us 2β0 up and Ben was in the right place at the right time to give us a three-goal cushion, grabbing his second goal of the season.
π«- A few in the running for this weeks donkey award but the winner is turns up 25 minutes late to meet time in a worse for wear condition after his antics out the night before, wears thermal leggings while playing and manages to pick up his first ever card with a straight red in the second half, tough day at the office for Scotty.
The first cup final in the clubβs history secured, we now wait to find out our opponents.
