For those of you who are new to Go Swim, we want to clarify the rules on wearing neoprene gloves and socks. It's one of our frequently asked question so here's a little guide to what you can and can't wear.
Our longer, more competitive swims are governed by the rules set out by Scottish Swimming and FINA. These prohibit the use of gloves and socks due to the advantage they might give to competitors (webbed gloves, for example!) Our 250 metre and 750 metre swims are exempt from this as they are considered introductory swims.
However, if you are swimming for your own personal challenge and do not want to compete for the prizes offered at our Loch Lomond swim, then we are pleased to say that you can wear your neoprene gloves and socks on the other distances. We know this is important if you are challenging yourself to swim a little further, perhaps our 5km or 10km swim. 🙌
