Take a bow Fiona 👊

36 minute PB at Copenhagen marathon. That’s over a 1 minute 20 seconds a mile faster than before.

Fiona was already putting in the work in her training before working with me but not seeing it show up on race day.

Copenhagen changed that.

Before the race she said “I’ve never felt so prepared for anything in my life. Never mind a race.”

During the race she thought: “I’m quite liking this. Maybe I’ll do another one.” when previously she was just focussed on getting finished.

After the race she said: “This has been everything I hoped it would be and more. Bring on the ultra.”

That’s what happens when the training is built for you and your race, the fuelling matches what you’re asking your body to do, your mindset is ready for when it gets hard and you have a race day strategy that isn’t just hope.

Fiona you took it all on and the results rewarded you from all the work you put in. Bloody legend.

I know you want to do your best and that approach is how I know your work ethic is solid.

But you need to move away from thinking more training = better race day results.

A training plan that is aligned to your fitness, your lifestyle and your race = better race results.

Take a bow Terri 🫡

University, full on job, dogs to train, a full life that doesn’t slow down for anyone.

All whilst in the midst of deciding to take on the devil o the highlands. This was the longest and hardest course she’s ever run, it’s not a race you wing.

We spent months building her endurance properly, getting her fuelling dialled in because she was asking her body to do something enormous and building the kind of confidence that only comes from doing the work and knowing why everything mattered.

She didn’t just finish this race or survive her way to the finish line, she raced it, which is why when we caught up post race she said:

“I was so happy. I’m still really happy.”

That’s what it looks like when a runner with a full life and a big goal does it properly.

Take a bow Gail 👏

3 years since her last marathon and she went to Rotterdam last weekend and ran her second fastest ever.

But the time isn’t even the bit I want to talk about, it’s actually how her race ex*****on was top tier.

She told me she was way more relaxed going in than she’s ever been before race day. Less anxious, more ready, which in her words she said wasn’t like her at all.

Her consistency in training was amazing even in the mist of a very stressful period at work.

One of Gail’s focus in this training block was dialling in on her fuelling for the first time properly and it paid off, not just on how well her race went but also in an improvement in her recovery.

Another win has to be the mindset shifts that helped in the last miles, you know when things get really spicy in a marathon and your brain just wants you to slow down or walk… Well Gail wasn’t hinging on, she was hinging IN and keeping her pace bang on target all the way to the finish line.

That’s what 4 months of working on the areas that needed the focus and it all showing up exactly when it needed to on race day.

When you can’t hit the paces,
or hold them through the whole session,
