This Drowning Prevention Week, take a moment to learn simple skills that could save a life:

Stop & Think
Always check your surroundings, look for hazards, and read safety signs before entering the water.

Stay Together
Never swim alone. Always supervise children and stay where others can help if needed.

Choose Safe Places
Swim at lifeguarded venues and stay between the flags where possible.

Float to Live
If you fall in or get into trouble: tilt your head back, relax, and control your breathing until help arrives.

In an emergency – Call, Float, Throw
Call 999 (ask for Coastguard at the coast), tell them to float, and throw something that floats. Never enter the water yourself.

Know the Risks
Cold water shock, hidden hazards, and currents can affect anyone – even strong swimmers.
