Have you ever ignored a gut feeling about someone because everything seemed fine on paper?
Maybe they said all the right things, but something about the way they treated you felt uncomfortable.
Maybe you kept telling yourself you were overthinking, being too sensitive, or making a big deal out of nothing.
Here’s something worth understanding about the mind-body connection in relationships.
Our bodies respond to stress, emotional experiences, and social interactions, sometimes before we’ve consciously made sense of what’s happening.
A tight chest, a clenched jaw, a knot in your stomach, or feeling unusually tense around someone can be signals worth paying attention to.
But here’s the important part: Not every uncomfortable feeling is intuition, and not every calm feeling means someone is safe.
Sometimes our nervous system responds to past experiences, attachment patterns, or unfamiliar situations rather than what’s actually happening in the present.
That’s why self-awareness matters.
Instead of immediately ignoring a feeling or assuming it’s telling you the truth, get curious.
Ask yourself:
🌿 What am I feeling in my body right now?
🌿 What happened just before I started feeling this way?
🌿 Is this person actually crossing one of my boundaries, or is this situation reminding me of something from my past?
🌿 What do I need to feel more comfortable and connected?
In Ta**ra, body awareness and presence are important practices because they help us become more conscious of our experiences instead of automatically reacting to them.
The goal isn’t to let your body make every decision for you.
It’s to learn how to listen to your body while also using your awareness, experience, and judgment.
Because healthy relationships require more than chemistry. They require emotional safety, self-awareness, and the ability to recognize your own needs.
Have you ever experienced a gut feeling about someone that you only understood later?
