One year ago, the Adventure Racing European Championship took place in Finland, in the beautiful Lake Saimaa region. Back then, Estonian ACE Adventure / La Sportiva finished third. Now they took the next step and became European Champions in Denmark!

Next year, it’s time to race again in the Lake Saimaa region, but this time on an even bigger stage. Endurance Quest returns as an AR World Series Qualifier, bringing expedition adventure racing back to Finland for the first time in 15 years!

ARWS European Championship 2026. 🏆

The race is over. But the story doesn’t end here. 📸

Here’s what 33 to 48 hours of racing looked like:
📍 19 stages, 11 TA’s, 147 CP’s
🏃 54km running
🚴 253km mountain biking
🛶 14km canoeing
🚣 18km kayaking
🧗 17km coasteering
➕ Swimming, diving, abseiling and tree climbing

50 teams, 17 nations, 200 people crazy enough to be this adventurous!

Rankings are still being evaluated. But one thing we know for sure - every single one of these athletes is an absolute racer. 💪

And we heard it from so many teams this weekend - the activities, the stages, the challenges. All of it. That was the goal all along: push people to their limits while making sure they were having the time of their lives. Judging by the smiles at the finish line — mission accomplished.

That's it! The European Championship at the is over, and what an incredible event it was!

The race wrapped up at the with an emotional prize giving and a well earned standing ovation for Lars and Maria.

As teams travel home they will carry memories to last a lifetime and keep a place in their hearts for Denmark.

📍TA8 Lundegaarden — Stage 13. Vertical Orienteering.

Although the first teams have already crossed the finish line — there is still so much racing happening right now. Teams are currently making their way through Stage 15 (canoe), Stage 16 (city orienteering + labyrinth), Stage 17 (coastal bike), Stage 18 (kayak) or Stage 19 (final MTB to the finish). 🛶🗺️🚴🌊🏁

But let’s take a moment to look back at one of the most fun stages of this race, early this morning🌳

16 climbing checkpoints hidden 5 to 20 metres up in the trees. All optional. But most teams were happy for the change of pace — swapping their bikes and maps for harnesses and ropes, if only for a little while.

Not everyone was full of energy though. Only a few team members made the strategic decision to take a brief rest between climbs — wrapped in survival blankets, eyes closed, recharging just enough to keep going.

In adventure racing, knowing when to rest is just as important as knowing when to push. Even if it’s just 10 minutes against a tree.

A big thank you to for providing the climbing gear that made this stage possible. Without them and the awesome people from Lundegaarden, there would be no harnesses, no ropes and no tree checkpoints. 🙏🧗

END OF STAGE 15 — arriving at TA10. 🛶

This is what arriving at TA10 looked like — after somewhere between 23.5 hours of racing for the leading teams, and up to 40 hours for those pushing towards tonight’s 01:00 cutoff. 😴

Step 1: Get to shore — and don’t forget to punch your CP
Step 2: Unload your bike from the canoe
Step 3: Carry the canoe 100 metres
Step 4: Go back for your bike
Step 5: Bike a few hundred metres
Step 6: Park your bike
Step 7: Start Stage 16 — city orienteering and labyrinth through medieval Næstved 🗺️

All of this. No sleep. No shortcuts. 💪

While we wait for the next teams to cross the finish line — currently out on Stage 19, the final MTB leg — we took a moment to celebrate the people who made all of this possible. 🙌

A huge round of applause for our incredible race directors. 👏

Organising a European Championship is no small feat. Organising one in a country you don’t even live in —takes it to a whole new level. 🇳🇴🇩🇰

— 18 years of experience, 120 races across 30 countries. This is what he does.

And then there’s . Who had absolutely no idea what she was getting herself into. 😅

But without her? This race wouldn’t have happened. Simple as that. ❤️

Every racer we’ve spoken to has been blown away by this race. Surprised, challenged and inspired in equal measure.
