And we care about why.

Pilates is the greatest functional body and mind strength training. We work with the body as a whole , balancing all the muscles of the body from inside out as we use resistance that connects directly to muscles as they contract AND lengthen . The body is developed uniformly and muscles are working optimally to their design and function.
All movements are natural and performed with deep awareness and detail as well as a deep connection to breathing.

I am grateful for my mother’s strength and care. I feel privileged and so happy to have two daughters to care for and to love.
To be a mother.
In my work as a pilates teacher I meet women and mothers every day in all stages of life. Some have postponed for years taking the time for selfcare. But all have realized that it is crucial to take the time to care for your own body, mind and spirit. To nurture yourself and heal in order to be there for others.
Classical Pilates offers that nurture in its completeness . Classical Pilates balances and rebalances the muscles of the entire body as a unit.
It increases circulation , improves joint and spinal health. It Regulates the nervous system and improves sleep, appetite and lymphatic system.

Through Pilates we breathe, we move, we uplift ourselves and others and we regain our strength and our perseverance.

The sculpture by Carl J.Bonnesen, “The mother “ can be viewed in Copenhagen, in the cupidpark outside the hospital “Rigshospitalet”, where many children are born everyday. As also my firstborn daughter Anna.

Jeg er taknemmelig for min mors styrke og omsorg. Jeg føler mig privilegeret og lykkelig for at have mine to døtre at passe på og at elske.
At være mor.
I mit arbejde som pilateslærer møder jeg kvinder og mødre hver dag i alle livets faser. Nogle har udskudt at tage sig tid til dem selv. Men alle har indset, at det er afgørende at tage sig tid til at passe på sin egen krop, sind og ånd. At pleje sig selv og at hele for at kunne være der for andre.
Klassisk Pilates tilbyder denne pleje i sin helhed. Klassisk Pilates balancerer og genopretter musklerne i hele kroppen som helhed. Pilates øger blodcirkulationen, forbedrer led- og rygsøjlens sundhed. Pilates regulerer nervesystemet og forbedrer søvn, appetit og lymfesystem.

Igennem forbedret vejrtrækning og bedre bevægelse opløfter vi os selv og andre og genvinder vores styrke og udholdenhed.

5❓what does a pilates studio look like ?

If you want to work with Joseph Pilates’ method as he developed it, it is best joining a pilates studio where you can gain the full benefit of his method by exercising on all the different machines/ apparatus with each of their respective and individual advantages.
A well equipped pilates studio will have some or more of the following apparatus : cadillac / trapeze table, reformer, mats, ladder barrel, spine corrector, wunda chair ( among others of his exercise chairs) and perhaps even more apparatus , such as the guillotine as well as smaller props. And of course instructors who are certified in all and comprehensively.

Pilates is so much more than reformer!
Each piece of apparatus adds to your progress.

However, Joseph Pilates published his mat exercises so that everyone could practice and return to a body , mind and spirit in balance ,- even without joining a gym or studio. His idea was to exercise the body uniformly and as a whole so that all muscles work as they are meant to and together.
So if you want to get started at home you can practice his mat exercises on your own and anywhere. ( you don’t even need a mat ) . You will however need to follow his guidelines and have self discipline 😊

The main purpose of his method is to achieve a well functioning and healthy body to manage our everyday lives with energy and good health.
It is not about looks . It is about natural functionality , strong health and wellbeing ❤️

“….Neither the mind nor the body is supreme- that one cannot be subordinate to the other” : Joseph Pilates , Your Health, 1934 ❤️

The benefits of Pilates as a method unfolds when practiced as intended as a full and complete organized system. In classical pilates the interaction and balance of body and mind is integrated into every movement and exercise done. It is the body mind connection that enables the work to transcends from exercising in the studio to being integrated and carried out into peoples lives.
Thus , it is important as a client to practice with awareness, focus, control and centering which enables body- mind balance and work with breathing as a natural and integrated part of exercising. Breathing allows us to gain healthy posture and to achieve depth and connection muscularly as well as mentally. Learning to breathe as you move also creates flow and balance.
Only then Pilates becomes, as Joseph Pilates said : the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.

Feeling complete coordination is rewarding and stimulating. It is truly liberating! ❤️
