🖤 Το motorsport θρηνεί την απώλεια του Ντίμη Μαυρόπουλου, ο οποίος έχασε με τραγικό τρόπο τη ζωή του το Σάββατο (29/8) στο Κάβο Γκρέκο, ενώ βρισκόταν στο σκάφος του, εν μέσω καταιγίδας και θαλασσοταραχής.

Γεννημένος το 1949 στη Λεμεσό, ο Μαυρόπουλος υπήρξε μια από τις πιο εμβληματικές φυσιογνωμίες του αθλήματος στην Κύπρο, νικητής του Cyprus Rally το 1990. Πρωταθλητής Κύπρου αλλά και διαγωνιζόμενος σε αγώνες στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, υπήρξε ένας από τους καλύτερους οδηγούς όλων των εποχών.

Το 2014 δημιούργησε το Κυπριακό Μουσείο Κλασικού και Ιστορικού Αυτοκινήτου, όπου φιλοξενείται, μεταξύ άλλων, η προσωπική του συλλογή.

Ο Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Αυτοκινήτου εκφράζει ειλικρινή συλλυπητήρια στους οικείους του εκλιπόντος.

🕊 The Cyprus Automobile Association and the Cyprus Rally mourn the passing of Alessandro “Alex” Fiorio 🇮🇹, three-time Cyprus Rally winner, who passed away on Monday at the age of 61 following a battle with cancer.

The great Italian driver wrote his name into Cyprus Rally history by winning the event three consecutive times, in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

He will be remembered as one of the greats of world rallying, a World Group N Champion in 1987, a two-time WRC runner-up, with 10 World Rally Championship podium finishes and multiple European Rally Championship victories.

But in Cyprus, Alex Fiorio will always hold a special place in the hearts of rally fans, who will remember his passion, the magic moments he created on the island’s roads, and his unforgettable battles with the local crews.

Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends and the entire rallying community.

Rest in peace, Alex.

The Cyprus Automobile Association regretfully announces that the 52nd international
Cyprus Rally, the final round of the FIA MERC - FIA Middle East Rally Championship 2025, which was
scheduled for October 3–5, will not take place.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile ( FIA ) has been informed of this unfortunate
development.

💔 We’ve lost Costakis Theocharides — former rally driver and long-time member of the Cyprus Rally Organizing Committee. He secured 3rd place in the 1981 Cyprus Rally.

💔 Καλό ταξίδι, Κωστάκη Θεοχαρίδη

Ο Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Αυτοκινήτου αποχαιρετά τον Κωστάκη Θεοχαρίδη, ο οποίος έφυγε από τη ζωή την Παρασκευή (11/7). Ο εκλιπών υπήρξε επί σειρά δεκαετιών αθλητής, μέλος και σημαντικό στέλεχος του Κυπριακού Συνδέσμου Αυτοκινήτου.

Ήταν από τις πλέον χαρακτηριστικές φιγούρες των αγώνων αυτοκινήτων του ειδικά του Cyprus RALLY , ως διαγωνιζόμενος στα 70s και στα 80s και κατόπιν ως μέλος της Οργανωτικής Επιτροπής, έως και πριν από μερικά χρόνια. Το 1981 τερμάτισε στην 3η θέση του εθνικού μας αγώνα, με συνοδηγό τον Μιχάλη Χαραλάμπους και αυτοκίνητο Ford Es**rt RS2000 MkII.

Ο Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Αυτοκινήτου εκφράζει ειλικρινή συλλυπητήρια στους οικείους του Κωστάκη Θεοχαρίδη.

Λεπτομέρειες για την κηδεία θα ανακοινωθούν σε κατοπινό στάδιο.

Ας είναι ελαφρύ το χώμα που θα τον σκεπάσει. 🥀
