Back to the room to dry off and catch the view. Answer a few emails from the balcony, then close the laptop for good. Up to the rooftop as it cools down, Naia's open, drinks are cold, something to eat while the sky starts turning. And then the sunset does what it does up here.⁠

I stood on that beach convinced everyone was watching, sure I'd be the one who couldn't do it. Then the wave picked me up and none of that mattered. Thank you for being scarier from the sand than from the water.⁠

From October to March, giant sea turtles haul out at Playa Minas to nest after dark. You sit under the stars, the guide lifts an infrared light, and there she is, a few feet away.⁠

Around 5:30, Tamarindo goes quiet.⁠

People stop what they're doing and turn toward the water. The sun goes orange, the waves keep going, and for a few minutes nobody is going anywhere.⁠
