Did you know a tennis ball can take up to 400 years to decompose? 🎾
We’re proud to announce our partnership with the Recycleballs program to help keep used tennis balls out of landfills. If you have worn-out tennis balls after your match, simply drop them in the designated recycling bin at the end of the tennis hallway — we’ll take care of the rest.

A special thank you to Gene Kiernicki (pictured left), Rosemary Goodwin (pictured right), Els Swart, and Carol Macsween for their efforts in bringing this sustainability program to our region.

We are closing at noon today. All affected user groups have been contacted by email and/or phone. Stay safe and warm today.

*UPDATED

WINTER WEATHER READINESS | We’re keeping an eye on today’s winter storm and wanted to share how things are looking so far.

*Public Works crews are out this morning sanding and plowing main roads and will continue to respond as needed this afternoon and evening. Depending on how conditions develop, a full plow will be determined later, with an anticipated start around 1 a.m.

City facilities are open today with their usual Sunday hours, and scheduled programs are running as planned. The one exception: Youngs Sportsplex will be closing at noon today.

Please avoid parking on the road while plows are working. This gives plows the space they need to clear roads properly.

Our crews are ready and responding as conditions change. We’ll keep sharing updates throughout the day if anything changes.

The netting that separates the indoor field from the hallway is being replaced today. The new netting offers much improved visibility and looks great! We can't wait for you to see the improvement during your next visit.

Congratulations to Anne Rungi (right) for representing Canada in the Women's 80+ category at the World Team Championships in Croatia. Anne, a regular participant at the Sportsplex played in both singles and doubles and helped team Canada finish 4th out of 10 nations. Well done, Anne!

Tennis Spotlight: Crocefisso (Cross) Spadafora
Congratulations to Cross for all his hard work. Cross (11) has had a series of good results in the Boy’s U12 Singles Transition Tour 2* category over the past few months. Making the semi-finals 3 times, finishing 2nd place 2 times, and even winning 1 event! As a result, Cross has improved his Ontario ranking by almost 100 spots in the last 4 months. Cross is now ranked #87 in Ontario in Boy’s Singles in what is still his first year in the U12 category. Keep up the good work, Cross!

Congratulations to Lucca on his improvement over the course of the last few months. Lucca (10) has won 3 Boy’s U10 singles Rookie tournaments since the month of May! Keep up the good work!
