We are pleased to introduce to you Andrew Currie, Club Head Coach and Technical Lead of the Welland Soccer Club.

Andrew brings a strong combination of playing experience, coaching expertise, and a passion for creating environments where players and coaches can grow. His playing career includes being a two-time Ontario Youth Cup Champion, an OCAA All-Star, and OCAA West Division Defender of the Year, before transitioning his focus toward coaching and player development.

Andrew has built an extensive coaching résumé across youth, collegiate, and senior levels. He currently serves as an assistant coach with Niagara College, where he has been involved with the men's program since 2021, and has coached in Ontario Premier League and League1 Ontario environments. In 2025, Andrew led Club Roma's League2 Men's team to a League2 Ontario Championship, earning League2 Coach of the Year honours along the way. He has also worked extensively within high-performance youth soccer.

His coaching education includes his Canada Soccer C Licence, completion of the OCAA mentorship program, and acceptance into the Canada Soccer National B Licence pathway. Andrew also brings more than five years of experience in video analysis, player evaluation, and tactical development. Beyond coaching teams, he is passionate about coach development and mentorship, with a focus on helping coaches become better educators and helping players understand the game—not simply play it.

As Club Head Coach and Technical Lead, Andrew will help lead the technical direction of the club, support our coaches, develop our players, and continue building a strong, consistent development pathway throughout Welland Soccer Club. We are extremely excited to have Andrew join us and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our players, coaches, and club community.

The WSC has been updated that the South Integrated Soccer League will not include the Under-13 division. Both the boys and girls 2014 teams will be coached by Matthew Vadacchino and Noah DiMaurizio. The 2014 girls team won 5 tournaments in 2026 including the NSL Playoffs. The 2014 boys team won the NSL Playoffs as well - and Sean Neamtu will provide continuity from the previous coaching staff as the build towards the SISL in 2027-2028.

Our Wizards U15 Boys will be playing for the SSL Cup tonight. Coach Steve Misir and his team will be hosting Brantford City in the 2026 League Cup Final. The game will be indoors at the Youngs Sportsplex at 9pm. Expect a great evening of competitive soccer. Come out to support the team - let's make the Sportsplex a cauldron!!

A huge thank you to Forge FC for bringing that special technical and tactical training to our teams on August 10, 2026. The level of play was taken to the next level, and our players soaked up every bit of that pro knowledge.

Do you have a passion for developing young athletes and inspiring the next generation of Wizards? The Welland Soccer Club is now accepting applications for all 2027 Youth Competitive Coaching positions!

We're looking for committed, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic coaches who are ready to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.

👥 Age Groups: U8–U18 (2019–2009 Birth Years)
⚽ Tryouts & Player Selection: September 2026

All applications will be carefully reviewed, and selected candidates will be invited to interview to discuss their coaching experience, philosophy, and vision for the upcoming season.
