The Lodge Legacy Committee unveiled updated plans in March for a renewed and expanded lodge designed with accessibility, community, and the future in mind. The project includes a renovated existing building plus a new two-storey extension, creating over 7,300 sq ft of welcoming space for skiers, families, staff, and visitors.

Key features of the proposed lodge design include:
🔑 A two-story extension will be built at a slight angle to the existing building.
🔑 The existing building will be renovated.

Highlights include:
🔹️ Fully accessible design with elevator access
🔹️ Expanded social and gathering spaces
🔹️ New rental, ticketing, food, and retail areas
🔹️ Additional washrooms, staff spaces, and first aid room
🔹️A design that reflects the needs of members and user groups while meeting modern building standards

The project has secured $3.24 million so far, including $1.4 million from BC Parks, with a fundraising goal of $4.89 million.

Construction is planned to begin in Spring 2027, with hopes of opening the renewed lodge in Fall 2028.

The Head Coach provides technical leadership and strategic oversight for SLNC’s competitive and developmental pathways, from Learning to Train (L2T) through post-secondary levels. This role is responsible for ensuring all training aligns with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles and maintaining the high standard of excellence for which our programs are known.

Key focuses include athlete progression, program integration across disciplines, and the successful delivery of seasonal training cycles.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we want to extend our deepest thanks to Wendy for her incredible service, leadership, and heart during her time as General Manager of Sovereign Lake Nordic Club.

Wendy has led with strength, grace, always putting the club, our members, and our community first. From her first days in the lodge to stepping into leadership roles that helped shape the future of SLNC, she brought a sense of commitment, professionalism, and care.

Her background as a military medic was reflected every day in the way she led. Calm under pressure with a safety-first approach and always ready to support those around her. More than that, she brought warmth, compassion, and a genuine commitment to this club.

Under Wendy’s leadership, Sovereign continued to grow as a welcoming, accessible, and active community hub. She helped strengthen our team and support our members.

Wendy, thank you for the countless early mornings, long days, thoughtful decisions, and smiling presence that helped guide Sovereign forward. Your impact on this club and this community will be felt for years to come.
While we are sad to see this chapter come to a close, we are deeply grateful for all you have given to SLNC.
