What does leadership mean to you?

04/06/2026

8 years.

That is how long my divorce lasted.

And the most powerful thing that contributed to finally ending it had nothing to do with the lawyers.

This one question shifted everything.

What am I currently tolerating?

Ownership is not blame. It is power.

The moment you stop looking out there and start looking within, everything changes.

Are you ready to ask yourself that question?

It happened because of 25 years in personal development.

Seminars. Consulting. Coaching. Integration.

Not 25 years of being perfect. 25 years of choosing to look at myself honestly when most people would look away.

That’s the real work.

Not the breakthrough moment on stage. Not the crying in a seminar. Not the journal entry at 2am.

It’s who you become on a random Tuesday when someone shows you a blind spot and instead of shutting down you lean in.

Most high performers never get there.

Not because they’re not smart enough. Not because they don’t care enough.

Because they’ve spent their whole lives being the one with the answers. Being capable. Being strong. Being the one people lean on.

And somewhere along the way receiving feedback started feeling like losing.

So they stopped.

And the people around them learned to stop offering it.

That’s the real cost of never doing the work.

Not failure. Isolation dressed up as success.

You are not broken. You don’t need fixing.

And there is a version of you that receives instead of deflects. That’s present instead of performing. That leads from wholeness instead of survival.

And the people in your life are waiting for that version to show up.

Are you coachable? Or just successful?

Most leaders don’t realize this is the reason everything still runs through them.

Not because their team can’t handle it.
But because they haven’t adjusted how they lead.

At some point, high performance turns into over-involvement.

You step in faster.
You carry more than you should.
You become the point everything depends on.

It works… until it doesn’t.

That’s when growth slows.
Decisions bottleneck.
And pressure builds; not because of the business, but because of how it’s being led.

This is where leadership identity matters.

If your standard is still “I’ll just handle it,”
you’ll always be needed more than you should be.

And that’s not scale.

That’s control.

Read that again.Who do you need to become to solve it?

Happy Monday. Or whatever day it is when you’re reading this.

Here’s the thing.

You don’t have a motivation problem.

You have a direction problem.

Most high performers I know are running incredibly hard toward something they never actually chose.

Someone else’s version of success.

A life that looks right on the outside and feels off on the inside.

No productivity hack fixes that.

So before this week swallows you whole, just ask yourself one thing.

What do I actually want this week to be FOR?

Not the list. Not what’s expected of you.

What do YOU want.

Because a packed calendar with no real answer to that question is just a very organized version of lost.

Performance isn’t what stalls companies.

Unspoken truth does.

Most leaders think they want feedback.

What they actually want is reassurance.

If your team edits themselves around you, that’s not culture. That’s control.

And control always has a cost.

Decision quality drops.
Innovation slows.
Resentment builds quietly.

Capable leaders don’t plateau because they lack strategy.

They plateau because they can’t see what people are no longer telling them.

Awareness isn’t soft.

It’s leverage.

Skills are easy to measure.

Experience. Credentials. Track record. Results.

Capacity is different.

Capacity is what determines how much pressure you can hold without tightening.
How many decisions you can make without over-controlling.
How much growth you can absorb before friction shows up in your company.

This is where founders quietly hit ceilings.

The business grows.
Revenue increases.
Complexity expands.

But internally, decision fatigue rises.
Team tension increases.
Everything starts feeling heavier than it should.

At that level, it’s no longer a skills problem.

It’s a capacity problem.

And most leaders don’t see it- because capacity isn’t visible.

It shows up in how you think.
How you react.
How you carry pressure.
How you influence the room.

Growth doesn’t just require better strategy.
It requires a leader who can hold more; calmly.

That’s the difference.
