🥋 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗡𝗜𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 — 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗢𝗪, 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘.

At just 16 years old, Niagara Falls taekwondo athlete Violet Yerich is already building an impressive résumé — Junior and Senior Ontario Provincial Champion, national bronze and silver medallist, and an international training experience in Serbia.

But this October, Violet gets to experience something she hasn't before:

Competing in a Provincial Championship right here at home. 🙌

On October 24–25, the Taekwondo Ontario Provincial Championships come to Canada Games Park, bringing some of Ontario's top athletes to Niagara — and giving Violet the chance to compete in front of family, friends and her home community.

It's exactly the kind of opportunity that shows what hosting major sporting events can mean for Niagara athletes and the next generation of local competitors.

The Taekwondo Ontario Provincial Championships represent the pinnacle of the provincial competition calendar, bringing together Ontario's highest-performing athletes as they compete for provincial titles and advancement opportunities, while celebrating the sport's core values of respect, perseverance, integrity and excellence.

"These championships represent far more than two weekends of competition," said Dan Kennedy, Executive Director of Sport Niagara. "They are an opportunity to bring together Taekwondo Ontario, our local clubs, volunteers and community partners to showcase Niagara's passion for sport. Sport Niagara’s Shelly had the honour of throwing out the first pitch today to officially get the 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗶𝗺 𝗦𝗹𝗼-𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 underway!

🐢💦 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣! 😂

Shelly stopped by the Niagara IceDogs Summer Camp to hang out with the kids — and somehow found herself right in the middle of a water balloon fight! 🎈💦

It was a great afternoon filled with laughs, new friends and plenty of summer fun.

A big thanks to the Niagara IceDogs for having Shelly join the crew!
