Gen X check-in… You Okay? Do you wake up and random sh*t just hurts?

Like… you slept in a perfectly normal position and somehow woke up needing a full diagnostic workup? What happened to us?

When did putting on socks become a mobility test and reaching into the backseat become a high-risk activity?

Start doing kettlebell windmills (or a jug of milk, because inflation).

Why?

• Improves thoracic mobility + shoulder stability → so grabbing something from the top cupboard doesn’t feel like you’ve torn a rotator cuff and your dignity.

• Builds core strength + hip mobility → so bending, twisting, getting off the floor, or turning to reverse the car doesn’t require a 3-point strategy meeting.

How to do it (without throwing your back out):

1. Press your kettlebell (or milk jug) overhead and keep your eyes on it like it owes you money.

2. Push your hip back toward the side holding the weight, soften the opposite knee, and slowly slide your free hand down your leg.

3. Aim for the inside of the foot but go only as low as your mobility allows, then come back up under control… this is mobility, not an audition for the ER.

Practical life applications: Retrieving your phone from under the couch. Picking up the dog bowl. Unloading Costco. Existing.

How often? How long?

Make it a Monday/Thursday thing or add it after a leg, cardio, or HYROX workout. Set a 5 minute timer on your phone. Do 6-10 reps on each side. Repeat 2- 4 sets.

To make it more of a mobility stretch, eliminate the weight and hold the stretch for 20-45 seconds.
