Single-Leg Balance ⛸️

Working on alignment, balance, and coordination through controlled single-leg movements.

The goal is to maintain proper body position and stability while navigating between cones. Small movements that build a stronger foundation for more efficient skating.

Wednesdays | Fundamentals of Hockey | U9+
Technical development for players looking to strengthen their skating foundation at all levels.

Both programs run October–December at the Petawawa Civic Centre.

Arm swing. What’s it good for?

Not creating speed.

Think of your arms as stabilizers to keep your upper body organized while your legs do the work.

A few simple cues:
• Keep your elbows tucked and under control.
• Stay loose on the swing.
• Don’t let your elbows cross your body’s centerline.
• Let your arm speed match your stride speed.

The harder you apply force into the ice, the faster your stride becomes. Your arms simply keep everything connected.

The legs create the power. The arms keep the rhythm.
