Arm swing. What’s it good for?

Not creating speed.

Think of your arms as stabilizers to keep your upper body organized while your legs do the work.

A few simple cues:
• Keep your elbows tucked and under control.
• Stay loose on the swing.
• Don’t let your elbows cross your body’s centerline.
• Let your arm speed match your stride speed.

The harder you apply force into the ice, the faster your stride becomes. Your arms simply keep everything connected.

The legs create the power. The arms keep the rhythm.
