The VI Mariners travelled to North Vancouver this weekend to play the North Shore Lions, going 2-2. The co-Mariners of the Week for this past weekend are 2027 grad Xzander Hope and 2026 grad Cole Erickson.

Xzander had a really good weekend at the plate. He hit 2 booming home runs, and in total went 7-14 with the 2 HR’s, 2 doubles, 8 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored. Xzander also only struck out once in 17 plate appearances.

Cole, a Prairie Baseball Academy commit, was completely dominant in his start on Saturday in our game 2 win. Cole threw a complete-game shoutout, only allowing 2 hits and zero walks while striking out 14 batters. Cole only faced one batter over the minimum in his outing.

The VI Mariners travelled to Penticton this past weekend to face the Trail Orioles in a neutral-site series. The Mariners finished the weekend with a record or 3-1, and are now 19-5 on the season. The Mariner of the Week for this past weekend is 2027 grad Brodie Woywitka.

Brodie was on fire at the plate this weekend, getting on base a whopping 13 times in 4 games. Brodie had 7 hits and 6 walks, and also had zero strikeouts in 17 plate appearances. Brodie also hit a double, scored 5 runs, drove in 4, and stole 3 bases. Last but not least, Brodie was behind the plate for 2 games, both of them wins, and allowed zero stolen bases in either game, throwing out the one runner that tried to steal on him.

Your VI Mariners played a regular season 4-game series in Cloverdale against the Cloverdale Rangers this past weekend. The Mariners swept the series, winning all 4 games. The Mariner of the Week for this past week is 2026 grad Josh Hillman.

Josh, a Dordt University commit, was on fire at the plate all weekend, going 6-13 with 3 doubles on the weekend. Josh also picked up a walk, a stolen base, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBI. 2 of those RBI came in a big spot in the first game on Sunday, when Josh broke a 3-3 tie in the 7th inning with a 2-run double, which were the go-ahead runs in our 6-3 win that game. Josh also played solid defence at shortstop all weekend.

Your VI Mariners played a regular season 4-game series against the Ridge Meadows Royals at Serauxmen Stadium this past weekend, finishing with 3 wins and 1 loss. The Mariner of the Week this week is 2027 grad Brodie Woywitka.

Brodie was on base almost constantly all weekend, going 5-8 at the plate and also walking 4 times. Brodie also stole 3 bases, scored 3 runs, and drove in one run. On defence, Brodie played flawlessly at second base all weekend, converting on all 10 of his defensive chances.

Brodie has been very consistent all season, currently sporting a .436 batting average and a .569 on-base percentage in regular season play this year, with 12 walks compared to only 4 strikeouts.

Your VI Mariners played in the Ridge Meadows Spring Showdown in Maple Ridge this weekend. The Mariner of the Week for the tournament is 2026 grad Nate Pellatt.

Nate, a Victoria Collegiate commit, was very good on the weekend on the mound. Nate pitched 5.1 innings across two appearances without giving up a single earned run. He only allowed 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6, and also picked up a win. Nate also scored a couple runs on offence.

Your VI Mariners played a regular season doubleheader this past Saturday at Holland Creek Park in Ladysmith against the Cloverdale Rangers, with the Mariners winning both games. The Mariner of the Week for Week 4 of the regular season is 2026 grad Garin Danyluk.

Garin came up with a clutch 2-run home run well over the left-centre field fence in the 6th inning of our game 2 win. The homer gave the Mariners some critical insurance runs late in our 5-2 win. On the other side of the ball, Garin pitched 2/3 shutout innings to close out Game 1, and also converting his only defensive chance in the outfield.

Your VI Mariners played a 4-game regular season series at Serauxmen Stadium against the North Fraser Nationals this past weekend, finishing with a 2-2 record. The Mariner of the Week for Week 3 of the regular season is 2027 grad Jaxon McQuarrie.

Jaxon was very strong at the plate on the weekend, collecting 6 hits in 15 at bats, including 2 doubles and 2 triples, good for 12 total bases and an .800 slugging percentage for the series. Jaxon also had 3 RBI, 1 run scored, and a stolen base. Jaxon was also very good in the outfield, playing all 4 games in right field and converting all 8 of his defensive chances

The Vancouver Island Mariners College Prep team is pleased to announce that infielder Tristen Marshall has committed to attend school and play baseball at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. Tristen will study architectural and engineering technology while in Kamloops.

Tristen is new to the CP Mariners team this season. Prior to this year, Tristen played with the Cowichan Valley Mustangs 18U AAA team his Grade 10 and 11 seasons from 2024-2025.

In the 2025 season, Tristen was a strong contributor to the Mustangs run to the provincial semifinals. Tristen batted .305 on the season with a .411 on base percentage. Tristen also led the team with 46 hits and 24 RBI, while also scoring 33 runs and drawing 21 walks to only 14 strikeouts. All this while playing 300 innings at shortstop.

Congratulations Tristen! We wish you the best on your next adventure!
