Katie Taylor closed the book on one of the greatest careers boxing has ever seen tonight, in front of her own people, in her own country, exactly the way she said she would.
A kid in Bray who had to tie her hair back just to get a fight. Olympic gold. Undisputed at two weights. A sold out national stadium. Every young girl who laces up a pair of gloves today does it in a world Katie built, and that reach goes way past the ropes.
Boxing behind a jab that never stopped working, Taylor controlled the range from the opening bell, beating Pili to the punch and slipping out before anything came back. The French challenger stayed brave and had her moments, but the cards told the story. Respect to Flora Pili, who took the toughest assignment in the sport on the biggest night of her life and stood in there for every second.
Rival is honoured that Katie chose our gloves for many of her career defining fights.
Thank you, Katie. From all of us at Rival. 🥊🇮🇪
