It was a productive week of projects getting checked off the to do list at the quarter last week. With much thanks to our Bowden work crew and Kees, John and Jody, we’re in fine shape for this year’s events. There will be ongoing mowing to do so if you’re out for a drive don’t hesitate to jump on a mower for an hour or two while your horse cools down 😊

That’s a wrap for another year folks! Thanks again to those who were able to help us out today ~ Rick, Patty, Christine, Lynn, Jody, Tom and Jake, Kees, Loekie, Kyla, John and Rina and Norm and Allison. And to some new faces ~ Chris, Nicole, Diana and Jana 👏Great job of organizing Bonnie! There’ll be a week of clean up and small projects May 19 -22, and then we should be able to get out and enjoy the grounds and trails again. Stay tuned for details!

Today we hosted our Intro to Driving clinic and 7 participants were hands on harnessing, hitching and driving some very well behaved driving horses. The day went splendidly, than you to Kees and Annie Muilwijk for hosting us, and allowing us to use your horse, and to Lynn and Jody for bringing Mickey and Charlie along to play 😊

Yesterday was another successful bomb proofing clinic with 13 equine participants of various breeds and sizes! Thanks for coming out everyone and Kees and Annie for hosting us and being our clinician at your beautiful facility. I think it’s safe to say that everyone learned lots 😊

That wraps up our bomb proofing clinics for this year. We do still have a spot available for our Intro to Driving Clinic on April 11th where you’ll be hands on harnessing and driving 3 very well behaved driving horses. Please comment below if that interests you.

A lot of fun was had introducing our horses to all the spooky stuff at today’s bomb proofing clinic. Thanks to everyone who participated and to Kees and Annie for hosting us! There is another one next Saturday (I’ll be confirming attendance this week).

The July 18 & 19, 2026 Summer Days Combined Test and Driving Trial Prize List and Google Entry Form are now live on the Alberta Carriage Driving Association website in the Events page (scroll to July).

For the first time, we are offering two shows within one event. Note: due to parking space limitations the Show Committee reserves the right to cap entries depending on the total number of competitor rigs so it is important to get your entries in early!

Driving Trial Show: The Driving Trial (DT) will run over two days - July 18 and 19. Dressage and Cones on Saturday July 18 in the morning with competitors proceeding directly to cones after dressage. Marathon will be run on Sunday July 19. DT entries are limited to 24.

Combined Test Show: The Combined Test (CT) show is a one day show run on the afternoon of Saturday July 18. It consists of dressage and cones only. After dressage, the competitor goes straight to the cones course. CT entries are limited to 21.

We’re happy to say we will be hosting an Introduction to Driving Clinic again this year ~ April 11 at the Muilwijk’s arena. This will be a hands on opportunity for you to practice harnessing experienced driving horses of different breeds and sizes and take the lines in an indoor setting. If you have a horse and harness that you’d like help fitting you will be able to bring them as well, but please note they need to be comfortable being handled and harnessed and we will not be hitching your new to driving horses that day. $50 for club members, $60 for non members, lunch provided. Bomb Proofing Clinic, March 14th from
9:30 - 4:00 (and possibly March 21st if there’s enough intetest) at the Muilwijk’s arena. This is a great opportunity to introduce your horse to all kinds of spooky stuff in a safe and organized environment. If horses are ready there may also be some long lining in the afternoon. Cost is $50 for club members, $60 for non members, lunch for people and horses provided. Please comment below or message us to register.
