🏆 WELCOME TO THE HALL, SKIP OLIVER! 🏆

When Dr. James “Skip” Oliver LLD’02 BA’67 arrived at Saint Mary’s as an 18-year-old in 1963, he couldn’t have known just how deeply the university would become a part of his life — or the lasting impact he would have on Saint Mary’s Athletics.

A four-year Husky, campus leader, lifelong ambassador and passionate supporter of Saint Mary’s, Skip’s connection to the Huskies has spanned generations.

From the football field and the Athletic Association to a lifetime of friendships, memories and moments that helped shape the Saint Mary’s community, Skip has always been a Husky at heart.

On Saturday, October 3, Dr. James "Skip" Oliver will take his rightful place in the Huskies Sport Hall of Fame!

🏆 WELCOME TO THE HALL, RYAN JONES! 🏆

Vanier Cup Champion, MVP, All-Canadian, Captain & Leader.

Ryan Jones BSc’01, quarterbacked the Saint Mary’s Huskies from 1997–2001, helping lead a turn-around of the program from 1-7, to Vanier Cup Champions and one of the greatest teams in Canadian University Football history.

On Saturday, October 3, Ryan Jones will take his rightful place in the Huskies Sport Hall of Fame!

Ryan is one of three Saint Mary's legends that will be inducted in the 2026 Huskies Sport Hall of Fame Induction Class. Stay tuned this week as we announce the other two 2026 inductees!

HUSKIES ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 🎥

Cara Freeman, a fourth year forward from Halifax, N.S., is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Sept. 1-6, 2026.

Freeman scored four goals and added an assist in a pair of games for the Huskies.

In Saturday's 4-3 win over the UNB REDS, Freeman scored three goals and assisted on the game-winner, leading the Huskies back from a 3-1 second half deficit for a season-opening comeback victory, and was named Player of the Match.

In Sunday's 2-1 loss to the UPEI Panthers, Freeman scored a penalty kick goal to add to her weekend tally.

Through two games, Freeman is tied for the AUS lead in goals (4) and points (5). She's just four goals away from tying the Huskies career goals scored record of 33 goals - Kelly Burgess (2007-2011).

The Huskies will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 11, visiting the Dalhousie Tigers at 5 p.m. at Wickwire Field.

HUSKIES ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 🎥

Chandler Zinck-Marier, a fourth year receiver from Pleasantville, N.S., is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Sept. 1-6, 2026.

Zinck-Marier was named Player of the Game in the Huskies season-opening 23-11 win over the STFX X-Men.

Zinck-Marier led the Huskies with 127 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. He caught three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown, and added 48 punt return yards, 35 kick return yards and three rushing yards.

A 2025 U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian and AUS All-Star, Zinck-Marier's 127 all-purpose yards lead the AUS through the first week of play.

Huskies football will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 11, as they host the Mount Allison Mounties at 7 p.m. at Huskies Stadium.

Saint Mary's forward Cara Freeman scored her fourth goal of the season, but the Huskies were defeated 2-1 by the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Huskies Stadium in Halifax, NS.
