Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Sami Carolo to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 5'10" attacking midfielder from Bermuda, Sami Carolo joins the Huskies out of Mount Saint Agnes Academy and Robin Hood FC.

Carolo was recently named the Young Player of the Year at the Bermuda Football Association Youth Awards, and was named U18 Most Valuable Player for the second straight year, as well as a league all-star. He was previously named MVP at the U15 and U13 levels.

In 2025, Carolo represented Bermuda at the CONCACAF U17 Championship, recording an assist in a win over Turks and Caicos. He has also represented his home country on the international stage at the U15 and U14 levels. He also led his Mount Saint Agnes Academy team to a six-a-side championship and was named MVP.

Carolo is described as a dedicated and hard working leader, who has captained his teams at all age levels. He consistently performs as a top player in his age group, and is considered an all-around midfielder who can score goals, create opportunities for his teammates and is strong defensively.

"I'm excited to continue our family legacy by attending Saint Mary's and continuing to develop my soccer skills," says Carolo, who's mother and father both attended Saint Mary's. "I can't wait to meet my teammates and make memories with the Huskies varsity soccer team!"

Carolo will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Jacob White to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 5'9" defender out of Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, Jacob White joins the Huskies out of Bay View High School and Halifax County United.

White is currently playing for the Halifax County United U18 squad in the NSSL Senior Men's AA division.

White previously represented HCU at the U17 & U15 AAA levels, captaining the U17 team in 2025, and leading the team to back-to-back provincial championships and trips to U17 Nationals in 2025 & 2024, as well as the U15 Nationals in 2022. He was also named the 2023-24 Bay View High Rookie of the Year.

White is described as a strong defensive player who can play multiple positions, with the ability to go forward and create attacking opportunities.

"I'm excited to commit to Saint Mary's and have the opportunity to represent the Huskies," says Jacob. "I look forward to competing at the next level and contributing to a strong team environment."

White will be studying a Bachelor of Engineering at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Tom Schlemmer to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 5'11" striker / midfielder out of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Tom Schlemmer joins the Huskies out of King's Edgehill High School and Halifax Wanderers U18.

Schlemmer is currently competing with Halifax Wanderers U18 squad in the top division of the Nova Scotia Senior Men's Soccer League.

Schlemmer previously starred for Valley United, consistently leading the team in scoring at the U18 and U17 levels. In the 2025 summer season, Schlemmer finished second in scoring in the NSSL U17AAA Boys Division with 21 goals in 19 games played. In the 2024-25 U17 Boys Indoor season, he led the league with a staggering 29 goals in 15 games played.

Schlemmer is described as a highly technical and dynamic attacker, who thrives as as a true striker or as a false nine.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to play and study at Saint Mary's, and I'm ready to push myself to help the team win," says Tom.

Schlemmer will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's, with plans to major in Sports Management.

Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Nate Croucher to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 5'11" striker from Hubley, Nova Scotia, Nate Croucher joins the Huskies out of Bay View High School and Halifax County United.

Croucher is currently currently competing with the Halifax County United U18 team in the Nova Scotia Soccer League Senior Men AA division.

Croucher previously starred at the U17 level with Halifax County United, leading the team to back-to-back provincial championships and trips to Nationals in 2025 & 2024, and leading his team in scoring with 13 goals over 18 games in the 2024 summer season. He also won the Golden as lead goal scorer at the 2024 Canada Youth Cup National Showcase, and was named MVP of the ALLT Memorial Tournament.

Croucher is described as a clever striker with great off-the-ball movement, and a natural scoring instinct.

"I'm excited to represent Saint Mary's and excited for the opportunities ahead!" says Nate. "I look forward to pushing myself both on and off the field, as I continue developing academically and athletically with the Huskies men's soccer program."

Croucher will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Saint Mary's men's soccer head coach Mesut Mert is pleased to announce the commitment of Owen Boudreau to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026 season.

A 5'8" midfielder / winger from Halifax, N.S., Owen Boudreau joins the Huskies as a transfer from the Brock Badgers (U SPORTS).

Boudreau is currently competing with the Suburban FC Men's Development Team in the Nova Scotia Soccer League Senior Men AA. He scored seven goals in 10 games with the team in 2025. Boudreau redshirted the 2025 season with the Brock Badgers, after attending the American International School of Riyadh.

Boudreau is described as a quick and creative attacking player, who works hard to cause problems for the defence by tirelessly attacking and pressing the net.

"I am looking forward to joining the Saint Mary's community and employing the resources available to improve both on, and off the field as a person and player," says Boudreau, who's mother and father both graduated from Saint Mary's.

Boudreau will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Shoutout to current Huskies volleyball athlete Jordin Parsons and alumna Olivia Bell, giving back to their home community by leading the Atlantic Sports Performance - Bridgewater Volleyball Camp! Well done Jordin and Olivia!

There’s something really powerful about seeing athletes from our own community come back and pour into the next generation. 🖤🏐

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to be part of the Ethos Athletics Bridgewater Volleyball Camp led by two incredible role models — Olivia Bell and Jordin Parsons.

Olivia is coming off another professional season overseas, while Jordin just wrapped up her first season as an AUS Champion with SMU. Two athletes who once grew up in this same community, now thriving at the highest levels of the sport, choosing to come home and invest their time, energy, and knowledge back into young athletes here. That matters.

Moments like these are what community development is all about.

Sport is so much bigger than wins and losses. It’s about mentorship, leadership, confidence, and showing young athletes what is possible through consistency, discipline, and belief in themselves. To have young players share the court with athletes they can genuinely look up to is something special.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of a weekend that was centered around growth, encouragement, and giving back to the next generation of athletes in our community.

The future of volleyball here is bright. 🏐

The Saint Mary’s community joins the hockey world in mourning Paul Boutilier, former Huskies men’s hockey head coach and a Nova Scotian hockey legend.

Paul was the head coach of the Huskies Men’s Hockey team from 1993-97, after serving as assistant coach from 1991-93.

A proud Nova Scotian, Boutilier played in 288 NHL games over 10 seasons with the New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and Winnipeg Jets, winning a Stanley Cup with the Islanders in 1983.

Internationally, Paul proudly represented Canada on multiple occasions and at both the junior and senior levels, highlighted by a gold medal at the 1982 World Junior Hockey Championships. He was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1994.

“Paul was a Nova Scotian hockey icon, and his players loved him!” says Huskies head coach Tyler Naugler, who played against Boutilier’s Saint Mary’s team during his AUAA playing career. “My time spent with Paul was always a positive learning experience, he enjoyed teaching, developing and helping other coaches learn, and the hockey community will miss him deeply.”

We send our deepest condolences to Paul’s family, friends, and former teammates during this incredibly difficult time.

We are so saddened to learn of the passing of Sydney’s Paul Boutilier.

Stanley Cup champion.

World Junior gold medalist.

Hockey mentor.

Proud Nova Scotian.

Widely respected both on and off the ice, Paul was generous with his time and a brilliant hockey mind. We were so happy to have him join us as our keynote speaker at our annual general meeting awards banquet in 2014.

Our sincere condolences to Paul’s family, friends and teammates.

He’ll be dearly missed. ❤️

Saint Mary's women's volleyball player Emilia Mikanovich has been named the AUS Athlete of the Year, as well as a nominee for the Lois and Doug Mitchell Awards as the U SPORTS athletes of the year.

A biology student from Minsk, Belarus, Mikanovich capped off one of the most decorated careers in Saint Mary's women's volleyball history by being named the 2025-26 AUS female athlete of the year. With this honour, Mikanovich becomes the AUS female nominee for the 2026 Lois and Doug Mitchell Award as U SPORTS Athlete of the Year.
