📢 Important Update for Hunters and Anglers in Alberta: 2026 Draw Changes

Attention all outdoor enthusiasts! The Alberta government has released key changes regarding hunting draws for the upcoming year.

🔍 Key Highlights:
 Youth Hunting Eligibility: The minimum age for youth to hunt big game is now set at 10 years.
 Draw Changes for Non-Residents: Non-resident bighorn sheep draws will now be random, with no group applications permitted. Additionally, applications for non-resident antlered mule deer and moose will no longer be accepted starting in 2026.
 Hosting Regulations: Residents can still host two non-resident Canadians annually, but one must now be a family member.

🌲 Big Game Updates:
 Elk Seasons: Significant changes have been made, including the splitting of late elk seasons into separate draw options and new restrictions on weapon types for specific WMUs.
 Mule Deer Seasons: Archery-only seasons for antlered mule deer will now require a successful draw of a special licence.

SPRING TRAP SHOOTING LEAGUE STARTS TONIGHT!

- Drop in every Thursday @ 7pm until June 25, 2026
- $10.00 per round of targets (cash only)
- $15.00 per round of shells (cash only)
- ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME. Coaches on-site.
- 12-gauge and 20-gauge shotguns available.

- Spectators Welcome. Eye and hearing protection are required for shooters and recommended for spectators.
- Washroom on-site.

- East on Highway 2, North on RR 25, 7 Km, West into Range.

Dunvegan Fish & Game Association will be hosting a Hunters Education Course on April 24, 25, & 26th in Fairview!
The course is only $50 and is required to obtain a hunting license. Participants must be at least 10 years old.
Spots are limited, please contact/pre-register Dennis Lof by calling 780-835-1356 for more information.

*Age limit adjusted to 10 in August of 2025. Legal age limit to take hunters Ed course is 10. Youth 10-17 may hunt big game with hunting license (RYWC).

There will be a special DFGA meeting tomorrow evening at Inland Salmon - Tom Spicers place on 101ave at 7:30pm, to learn about restocking Cummings Lake.
The government has given approval for stocking fish into Cummings Lake.

We’re excited to officially welcome families to the 9th Fairview Scouts Group, starting in September! Our goal is to give youth in and around Fairview the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, make friends, and enjoy the outdoors through Scouting.

• Beavers (ages 5–7)

During registration, families may apply for a subsidy if needed — we want Scouting to be accessible to everyone.
