I get emotional thinking about it.
But we have the greatest instructor team.
We really do.
There's no drama or egos (and in this industry, that's rare).
Everyone works well with everyone else.
Everyone cares about each other and looks out for one another.
Everyone cares so deeply about the mission of teaching our students to be safe, and takes it very seriously.
This isn't something you can manufacture. We just got blessed to find incredible people who have similar values and believe what we believe.
Thanks team! We couldn't do this without you!
We believe the best instructors are the best students.
That's why we do training as a team a minimum of once per week (usually it's weekly).
Yesterday we spent the evening together doing instructor training and building our team unity.
Dave spend 2.5 hours mentoring the team on how to not just teach "dance moves" as he likes to call it, but how to make the training applicable for real life. Learning defence technique itself is good, but it's very 2D. We are working hard on adding layers to what we teach and how - more like 4D. Adding angles, tactical drills and other facets and applications of how attacks happen and how to defend appropriately.
And then we went to BPs for a late supper, just to get to know each other better.
Thank you Dave for your depth of experience. I don't know anyone else on the planet who has the lived experience of violence that you do, and your willingness to pass it on.
To our students: buckle up! Training is about to get even more real world and fun!
