FALL GRADING 2026

Congratulations to all our students on another special grading! Between our kids, teens and adult programs, we awarded:

🩢 Nine grey and white belts, four grey belts, and one grey and black belt
πŸ’› One new yellow belt
πŸ’™ Five new blue belts
πŸ’œ Four new purple belts
🀎 One new brown belt

Every grading is always so special, and this one was no exception. So much dedication, persistence, and especially bravery was on display over the weekend. We are so thrilled to award everyone for their hard work.

As we watch our team become more colourful, we reflect on everyone's individual journeys and what it took to get here. The hours on the mats, the defeats and wins, the frustrations and the successes. Your paths are reflections on your character and your refusal to quit. We are so proud of all of you.

Things you need to know when you start jiu-jitsu:

1. The first 3-6 months will suck. You'll feel like you're so far behind everyone else and like you're not learning anything. You'll get smashed by people smaller than you. But slowly, things start to click.

2. At some point, a teenage blue belt will ruin your night. Just as you think you're getting the hang of things, someone comes around and destroys you. This is a canon event.

3. The sooner you make it a habit, the sooner you'll get ahead. Pick three nights a week that are jiu-jitsu nights, and stick with it. You'll get ahead of everyone who burns out in their first month.

4. You'll make a group of friends you wouldn't meet anywhere else. If you're in jiu-jitsu, you're probably in a group chat with a single dad, a lawyer in his fifties, an unemployed 18 year old, and a stay-at-home mom of three. The bonds you make on the mats are irreplaceable.

5. You don’t tap a million times because jiu-jitsu isn’t for you, you tap a million times because it’s a long journey. If you were good at it the first day or the first week, it wouldn't be worth learning. Join for the journey, not the short-term satisfaction.
