With March being one of our busiest months for meets, it’s no surprise that these swimmers stood out as March Swimmers of the Month for Racing!

Life is about seizing the opportunity, and these swimmers spare no effort in making the most of every single racing opportunity that they get! As the famed Edmontonian Wayne Gretzky once said, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

These swimmers embody that mindset, putting 110% effort into every single practice. Practice makes permanent, and while it may be easy to push hard at meets, these swimmers go above and beyond, and show that same effort at practices, and this is what sets them apart.

Join us in congratulating our March Swimmers of the Month!

This past weekend, OSC had 8 swimmers compete at the Speedo Canadian Swimming Open held at the Kinsmen Sports Centre. This annual meet brings the best swimmers across Canada to compete in early April and the competition this year was fierce!

OSC had 4 swimmers from the small team qualify for finals and we are so proud of our swimmers for stepping up and representing our club this weekend:

👉 Emily Morgantini - 50 Breast, 200 Breast
👉 Sophia Musselman - 50 Back, 100 Back, 200 Back
👉 Regan Peace - 50 Back, 100 Back
👉 Minh Nguyen - 50 Free

These swimmers did a phenomenal job at this high level meet which saw the likes of Taylor Ruck, Yuri Kisil, and many other famed Olympic athletes. We are so proud of all of our attending swimmers, and look forward to seeing what they will continue to achieve for the remainder of the season.

It was a weekend filled with cheering and personal achievements - many of our swimmers came out over the weekend to cheer on their teammates and coaches - which also highlighted our amazing team culture!

Thank you to Swimming Canada and the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club for hosting an amazing meet with such unforgettable moments for our swimmers to carry with them forward in their journey with the sport.

On March 19-22, OSC along with Swim Alberta hosted over 600 athletes at the 2026 Winter Provincial Championships. A MASSIVE thank you goes out to the parent volunteers who made this competition possible. The results we celebrate would not exist if it was not for the long hours you put in to ensure these swimmers had a great meet! 👏

3 NEW CLUB RECORDS 🚨
Tao So set a record in the Males 11-12 year old 800m Freestyle with a time of 9:25.83 breaking the old record held by Erik Olson by almost 15 seconds and narrowly missed the Provincial Record by 1 second. Tao is sure to be targeting that record at his next competition, so stay tuned! Tao also broke the Male 11-12 year old 400IM record with a time of 5:12.18, breaking the 10 year old record by Alexandr Lapshin.

Regan Peace added to the record tally by breaking the Male Open 50m Backstroke record with a time of 26.68 breaking the old record by .17 held by OSC alumni Frederik Kamminga.

Congratulations to Tao and Regan! 🎉

We have a new Best of the West qualifier! Ivy Maguire cruised her way in the 200m Butterfly with a time of 2:37.91 and booked her ticket to the inaugural event in Winnipeg at the end of April!

Tucker Buhler, after weeks of training hard and a few short misses at swim meets, finally got his Canadian Open time standards in the 800m Freestyle with a time of 8:39.78 and now gets to compete with Canada’s best athletes at the April 9-11th event here in Edmonton!

We also had some swimmers achieve additional qualifiers at this meet:

On March 14th and 15th, OSC competed at the 2026 Neil Lepps Memorial Meet at Millennium Place and put together an excellent weekend of racing. From top to bottom, it was a meet filled with strong performances, great effort, and plenty of encouraging results as swimmers continued building through the season. 🆙

OSC had 79 swimmers in action this weekend and came away with an impressive 272 personal bests. That is an outstanding number and a great reflection of the work being done at training. 💪

We also had a new qualifier from the weekend: Leona Zhan earned a new Festival qualifying time in the 100 Butterfly, touching in 1:37.59. Congratulations Leona on a great swim and a well-deserved new standard! 👏👏

OSC made its presence felt throughout the weekend, finishing the meet with 75 podium finishes (27 🥇, 19🥈, 29 🥉) overall.

That is a fantastic medal haul and reflects strong racing across many different age groups and events. Congratulations to all of our medalists who stepped up and represented the team, especially those with multi-medal performances across the weekend!

There were strong swims, great improvements, and plenty of valuable racing experience gained over the two days. Most importantly, the team atmosphere was excellent. Swimmers supported one another, competed hard, and showed the kind of attitude that will continue to move this team forward. 🤍💙

Well done to all of our swimmers. Keep working, keep supporting each other, and we look forward to seeing this momentum carry into the next competitions of the season. 🙌🙌

As we near the end of Day 3 Champs, OSC would like to take the opportunity to congratulate our February swimmers of the month for dedication, which is all the more apparent as the meet goes on.

These swimmers are the model athletes, consistently being there not only physically but also mentally by giving it their all in every practice, every swim, every workout, every race at every meet.

We are so incredibly proud of our swimmers of the month and look forward to seeing them continue to develop and improve as swimmers, athletes, and individuals with OSC!

February Splash makes an impact!

On Sunday February 22nd, 2026 OSC hosted a quick time trial for swimmers in our JAG to National groups. The energy was a reminder of the very successful “double-double” meet that OSC hosted in the past with one goal: give swimmers a chance to race mid-February in preparation for Provincial meets. For some of these swimmers, it was their first time racing long course (50m format) and OSC swimmers put up their hands!!

In total we had 76 best times (sorry not 6-7) from only 66 swimmers, plus 2 new Provincial Champs qualifiers! Claire Purves smashed the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:20.44 getting her champs time in ALL age groups setting her up for the rest of her swimmer career at the Provincial level. Jaxon Kuang narrowly missed his champs time in the 100 Freestyle so he stepped it up in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:10.96 punching his ticket to the provincial event in March.

The coaches are extremely proud of all the swimmers and this meet was a great indicator of the progress they have made with all the hard work they are putting into every practice. And this meet was such a huge success look forward to OSC building on that next season when we do the February Splash again!

We also had the opportunity to host two officials clinics for our volunteers and offer many of them their first deck evaluation in preparation for Champs next month - a huge thank you to Sue Buhler and Donna Cole for running the course for our volunteers, and to the hospitality volunteers who provided an amazing lunch for everyone that attended! We are excited to see everyone on deck in their new positions at Champs.

Congratulations to all swimmers and keep pushing!

On February 7th and 8th, 31 OSC swimmers took part in the Red Deer Catalina Valentine Invitational! Racing fast and cheering loud, the team brought spirit and determination to the pool deck all weekend long. It was a standout performance in the water, highlighted by an incredible 116 best times and 30 podium finishes. For several swimmers, this meet marked their very first travel competition – an exciting milestone as they raced new competitors and experienced the fun and team bonding that comes with competing away from home.

A special congratulations to Luke Li, who had an extraordinary meet, winning every event he competed in!
