In case you forgot, here's some great benefits from your regular workouts as you get older 👇

Stronger Bones & Joints: Weight-bearing exercises stimulate bone-building cells, slowing osteoporosis and protecting against fractures. It also relieves osteoarthritis pain by strengthening the muscles that support the joints

Improved Mobility & Balance: Building muscle directly translates to daily functional independence -> making it easier to walk faster, climb stairs, and get up from seated positions. Better balance drastically reduces the risk of dangerous falls as well!

Enhanced Brain Health: Resistance training can slow the loss of cognitive function and is linked to a reduced risk of dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease

Increased Longevity & Heart Health: Regular weightlifting lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol levels, and is associated with a significantly lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and other related causes

Metabolism & Weight Management: Building muscle mass boosts resting metabolism, helping to burn fat and ward off metabolic diseases like Type 2 diabetes

Mental Health: Lifting weights combats symptoms of anxiety and depression, improves sleep quality, and restores confidence in your physical ability

"I can't afford to eat healthy, it's too expensive"

This is a common one we've heard over the years and nowadays we totally get it.

However, healthy eating when done properly does not have to be expensive and in fact can often save you money versus eating otherwise.

Items like beans/legumes, whole grains, and seasonal produce (to name a few) are often a relatively cheap and easy way to maximize your dollar at the grocery store, while giving your body the nutrients it needs.

And while some other processed food items can indeed seem cheaper and more convenient at times, it's important to consider the long term costs and health effects on your body when done in excess.
Furthermore, eating out and/or ordering food while saving you time is often much more expensive than your grocery food items - and often won't last as long for your weekly eating!

So remember, plan your week with some meal plans and foods you enjoy. Give yourself time in the week to gather whatever items you need, and time to prepare them.
You only get one body, treat it well and it will treat you well back!

The Chop Rotation is an often under looked core pattern in many peoples week to week strength routine.
It's easy to forget that our core is not only our "6 pack" or abs in the front but in fact wraps around our spine and lumbar to help us stabilize and keep our posture & movement in the correct patterns.

As always, simple but effective and this one compliments your planking + carrying exercises really well!

This padded bar is a great option for squats or lunge patterns if you find the regular barbell uncomfortable and/or if you have trouble externally rotating your shoulders to get your hands up on the bar for positioning.

Just another great tool we have here at Skoye Fitness to help you accomplish your goals!

You know what's even better than doing a workout?
Doing a workout with a friend or family member!

That's right - keep yourself and those around you *accountable* to staying on track with your fitness routine, and have some fun along the way!

Remember - it's a lot harder to fall off the wagon when you've got your support group right there with you 😎 💪

Did you know when you have an injury there is scientific evidence that shows working out your uninjured body parts actually helps your injury promote healing and come back stronger?

This is called the cross-education effect and it involves strength training the healthy limb, which research has shown can help reduce strength loss and maintain muscle mass in the opposite or immobilized/injured limb (likely through neural pathways).

So whenever you're dealing with any injuries, just remember - it's still a good choice to workout, you just have to do it the right way!
