I'M MAKING HOUSE CALLS! Today I had the pleasure of working with one of my clients, my PREGNANT CLIENT in the comforts of her own backyard!! Going to the gym isn't the only way to get in a great workout! There are many pros to working out at home. One of the biggest benefits for women who are pregnant is that it creates a routine that can be easily done once the baby arrives! It can be very difficult and overwhelming for some new mothers to try to make it to the gym for a workout. Creating this routine while your pregnant makes the transition to post-partum workouts much easier! Other benefits to at home workouts are no fees, more time to workout with no travel to and from and can be more comfortable if new to working out and last but not least... ME! I come to you! I'm not normally a cusser......but 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I don't think we give our bodies enough credit!.. we can lift heavy things, run fast, throw a ball so far, so fast and so accurate, jump weirdly high!... and some of you ladies out there have GROWN A HUMAN BEING!!... I mean our bodies are amazing!!! They come in all different shapes and sizes that in itself is cool! The thing our bodies all have in common is that they were created to be challenged. Do something to challenge yourself this week!and after you've challenged yourself, look in the mirror and be impressed with what you just did. Be impressed with what your teammates, friends, training partners are doing. We are capable of impressive s**t.

YUP! IT'S TRUE!! Increasing your muscle mass will increase the calories burned at rest. The amount of calories you need to maintain normal body functions ie. respiration, cardiac function and thermoregulation is known as your resting or basal metabolic rate. When you increase your lean muscle mass you will increase your basal metabolic rate. Daily metabolic rate of fat is 2 calories/pound, daily metabolic rate of RESTING muscle is 6 calories/pound. This number (6 calories/pound) increases for RECOVERING muscle, meaning after resistance exercise damaged muscle cells need to be repaired. Repairing muscle cells requires energy.... the more repairing that needs to be done the more calories you are burning!.... LIFT HARD! RECOVER HARD! BURN MORE CALORIES!

This ones just for the ladies... sorry boys! SUPER EXCITED to share that I have started an online course on Prenatal and Postpartum Exercise Design!! Just want to throw this out there I AM NOT PREGNANT! My interest in prenatal and postpartum exercise has spiked recently as a client of mine shared she was pregnant! 🤰🏼💁🏼 pregnancy and labour/delivery is hard on your body, your mind, your emotions... so why not prepare for it?! The benefits of exercise during pregnancy are ASTOUNDING!.... follow along as I share the benefits, exercise DO's and DON'TS, nutritional needs and other neat facts!! T’S MONDAY! The start of a new week! I don’t know about all of you, but I love Mondays. Monday’s are a new beginning, a chance to start the week off right, a chance to make this week better than the last! So today do something positive for your body today! It doesn’t have to be major it can be as simple as drinking more water, walk around the block a few times, get an extra serving of vegetables in. All these can be done during work or your lunch break or if your at home for the day. These are simple easy changes that can be made RIGHT NOW! Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks as I will share more changes that can be made both small and BIG!

Hydration is so important for athletic performance!! Water maintains blood volume, regulates body temperature and is involved in muscle contraction. losing sweat = 2% body weight causes a noticeable decrease in physical and mental performance. Dehydration reduces the plasma volume which increases blood thickness this causes a decrease in central venous pressure and therefore reduces amount of blood entering the heart during diastole which in turn can decreases the amount of blood the heart is able to pump out. The best thing about water..... it's a FREE & EASY way to increase athletic performance and kickstart healthier habits!!!
